my minor problem- mirrors sticking

my only (touch MDF) problem so far is that the HSE dipping (reversing) mirrors sometimes dont re-set themselves back into the correct positions. since my dealer is a 60 mile round trip away, I cant be bothered so far. Does anyone know if this is a 5 minute job or in for a day ?
thnx

I don't think there is a fix for it, mine does it and I just hit memory 1 on the seat to reposition them.

Its annoying but no real hassle. I reported it at last service, but whilst I was told it was fixed, it was'nt. I will report again at next service, but its not worth time off the road.

Could be a software related induced fault.

Try pressing the seat memory button (the one you set up for yourself) and see if the mirrors return to the predeterimned setting.

It's a bit of an inconvienience and resulting bing bong when the memory settings are achieved always prompts the question from the missus "is that the Suspension Fault - again".

I had this problem fixed in one of the software updates but during the last service they must have trashed it or the testers did not do a complete integration test with all the other software updates.

It is not a part of the enhancement programme. There is a TSB for this - requires replacement of the seat memory module - though you may find this makes no difference. Seems to part of the character of the vehicle........

It cannot be fixed by a software update.

thanks for the replies guys. I will try the memory button, although I just usually reposition them. I did read somewhere this dipping can be switched off by the dealer. Still not made a decision on if I like dipping mirrors after 6 months of ownership.

You can turn the dipping off yourself on the settings menu.

Confused are you sure? I had this problem they replaced seat memory module as you mentioned .. it still happened,.. then after an update it stopped going wrong.... must admit Im assuming it was the same update did it all, unless there is another update that can be done specifically for that bit.(smm) Question

is there software involved in running the smm and has it been updated as part of resolving a mirror memory issue?

would this update also be part of the enhancement programme if you didnt have it already on your D3?

Yes, software is involved in running the seat memory module.

A memory error within the module causes the loss of the last known position of the mirror glass. This is a software error that cannot be rectified using WDS. The whole unit has to be replaced.

As a result, the enhancement programme has no effect on this.

OK?
