12V socket behind centre Console - 7 Seat

Just fitted the 12v socket behind the centre console to my 7 seat.

For anyone who is interested the parts required are:
XVO 500020 - Module - Interface - the blanking plate with the aux socket pre fitted ( now for the cable to link it to the stereo!)
YXW 500070PVJ - 12v socket and fitting plate.

Power for the socket is the orange headed socket behind the blanking plate in the car - the 2 green headed plugs are for the rear heated seats when fitted. Total cost was just over £30 and took about 2 minutes to be fitted.

So do you have a base 7 then ?? My 'S' has this all in place already and one in the boot too. 4 in total I think.

Unless I'm missing something here

But anyway... not bragging or anything but...just goes to show that the wiring in this beast is pretty standard no matter what spec you have.

Top job Smile

Yep, i have a 7 seat and both it and the base 5 don't have the socket and aux socket as standard - however the power plugs are still there behind a blanking plate.

cool... amazing what you can do with the right bits and the standard wiring that LR provide Smile Nice of them to leave it all in.

Now... a way to DIY fit the LR sat nav would be nice Smile

On a related theme...my S has 2, 12v sockets in the dash panel. I have worked out that you need to have the ignition on before either gets any power, however, why is the cigarette lighter socket (nearest driver), not also a 12v supply? Every other car I have had has performed both roles.
When you have phone charger for Mr and Mrs, sat nav to plug in and the kids watching a dvd using second row, the boot socket is a long reach!
Perhaps someone will say that if I plug in the lighter nine times with ignition on, doors open, wind blowing and tailgate open, then the computer will change it settings!

I run my satnav off the right hand socket no problem at all.

Rogue,
Here is a photo of the complete socket in situ, it replaces the 'cubby hole' at the top of the rear centre console - standard on all models from the S upwards.

Run the phone charger, iPod power, hot water boiler (single cup type) from this socket or the other.

No problem.

And you only need a single click on the ignition not all the way round to light up the dash for pre-start.

Cheers dazadd!
Had to ask as I have the 7 seater also. Just finished the ipod connection this afternoon and need something to do over the weekend as i can't goto LRfest at Peterborough!
I'll be off to the dealer tomorrow to get/order the bits as it'll make it easier to power the portable DVD player we have for the kids on long journeys.
thanks

Rogue, is the dog in your avatar a ridgeback??. If it is we have a boy also

Hence the reason for buying the car in the first place!!

For anyone fitting the parts - top tip - fit the 12v socket surround to the blanking plate and then insert the socket itself. It won't fit if you place both parts of the socket together first before putting them in the plate - i found out the hard way!!!

Simon, Slimer, Simkna
Thanks for confirming that I have another issue to raise with dealer next week - no power to righthand 12v socket!
