Trade value
I'm sorry to say my beloved D3 may have to make way for smaller vehicle.
I have been looking at a Golf GT 170 diesel, however I can't seam to get what I would call a reasonable trade price. I have a Jan 05 54 plate, SE Auto TDV6 with 20,000 miles full history and was described by a VW dealer as mint. Never been off road also has window tints and lamp guards. I was offered..............................................£23,500.
Any ideas what its worth, the VW dealer said that was all the could give but quoted me a book price of £27,500.
Having said that, the seller's details are sparse, so the fear of fraud may discourage people from bidding.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

just had a quick look at Parkers used guide and you should be looking at part ex value £25k-26ish, is it Layerthorpe VW, if so they are very tight to deal with

Playing a 'game' with a dealer I enquired about upgrading to a new HSE.
My car is a March 06 S Auto in Zermatt.
Had only done 5.5K at the time (mid Oct) and was offered £26K Zermatt silver 06 reg.
Gone but not forgotten !!!

Was dealing with layerthorpe but they went a bit wierd on me. there are very keen to sell me the car but when pressed towards signing a deal I said no for two reason. One being the wife hadn't seen it and would have to see it first and the other being I was going to shop around. At that point they refused to deal with me until I had been round the dealers and got qoutes. i was then to return to them and they would offer me a deal last.

Don't forget, depending on model and how much you paid, 4k t0 8k goes in VAT.

My supplying dealer has offered to buy the car back at 26K. The VW dealer has a bid for 23K from a LR dealer in leeds when he asked about the figure being low they told him there was no demand for the D3 as people are being put off by possible road tax changes. The VW dealer siad they didn't believe this as people were still buying touregs in good numbers. He also told me it was common for dealers to offer around 2 grand less then book and I'd do well to get past 25K mark.
Would there be a market to sell the vehicle privatley?
