Got into car ten mins ago started (a little lumpy) has not been used for a week or so but has been moved around. No visible indications of faults but the engine won't respond to accelerator (builds very slowly), then seems the turbo comes in and off it goes. But won't build revs until (presumably) the turbo kicks in. Have not tried to drive any distance, do you know what the possible fault is ??
thanks in advance

big yellow taxi to the LR dealer my friend:
poss experiences relevant:
injector
electrical harness
ecu
starter motor
alternator
low pressure fuel pump (in tank)
one or more egr
Misfuel in recently months or poor quality contaminated diesel / blocked fuel filter
Good news not likely to be turbo
UNTIL YER GOT THE FAULT CODES YER JUST GUESSING IN EVERY DIRECTION BUT KEEP US POSTED ON WHAT THE FINAL PROBLEMS ARE

Check that all the intake 'plumbing' is connected.
If it's dislodged this could be your problem. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

That's exactly the same symptoms that SWMBO's D3 (ex-JMCs) had when it fooked it's turbo. To the letter. Hope it's not but certainly fits.

he would have had an "engine fault" code come on the last time he'd drove it along with the car going into crawler mode as the vehicle tries to protect the engine from distruction due to the failing turbo

Just gone through the events with SWMBO, who was driving, and yes there was an ESF message as she remembers checking the manual. Apart from that the symptoms fit.

Does very much sound like EGR valve(s).
Worst case turbo if it is displaying 'Engine System Fault'
Need fault codes really.
