No power below 2000rpm - SOLVED |
|
No.... no.....no...... maybe..... zoom!
Yup, got naff all going on below 2000rpm, started immediately after starting the car following the 90k service. No discernible smoke, so either farked EGR or...... something left unplugged? Thoughts on back of a stamp to the usual. :thumbsup I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Hi Al,
check the air mass meter connection by the air cleaner, easy for it not to be fitted after a service, (although usually car goes ok).
regards
Steve

Air mass meter plug is fine, thanks for the suggestion Steve. No fault codes, so looking like EGRs are most likely suspect. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I already know the turbo actuator is starting to stiffen up. Could be a large bill and lots of those little jobs that are easier to do with the body off coming my way. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Well if it's either it should have a code stored
If its egr's get them blanked and forget about em
Also would check intercooler hoses (don't think this would cause your symptoms i would check any how )

Actuator code was there prior to service, but cleared and not returned. Mines an 08, so blanking will require some assistance from Pete Bell
No excessive smoke, so intercooler hose not high on the suspect llist, but if delaminating internally could show like this I guess? Planning on getting a replacement from Pete shortly
Looks like a bit of time undunder ththe bonnet is needed. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

My money is on an egr good news is Pete has finally helped you 07 and newer guys out with a fix
I would try the 2p blanks and see if any better should help the trouble shooting
If you suspect turbo actuator cycle the ignition loads of times this should go through the full sweep a few times per ign sequence and will help temp free it up
Also with the intercooler pipe I swapped mine recently and it showed no sign of a fault but it has loads more power while on boost now
Good luck

would suspect if egr it would fllag a code & bring the light on.
If turbo actuator it would also flag a code. I have freed these off in situ, then reflash engine ecu to latest software to 'exercise' it on ignition cycle.
Just an idea, disconnect the air mass plug (I know it will set a code), but see if it drives ok with it disconnected. if it does, it could be the air mass meter.

Steve I was thinking that as well - that's how mine was that time you diagnosed it on the phone - completely gutless up to 1500 and definitely not right above that, but no fault codes at all. With the MAF sensor disconnected it ran much better despite the light being on. Defiinitely worth testing Al.

I shall put my scuba gear on and attempt to lift the bonnet at some point this morning.
Just had a green faced chap with gills flipper his way past the back door asking for directions to Atlantis. Bit damp out here at the moment. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
