Re: Manual Operation of FBH /Timed Climate |
|
JonM wrote:Ok, I can't figure this on out myself so I'll have to ask.....
I have a MY12 HSE with the timed climate (no remote).
The timed function works properly, it starts on time and runs for about 20 minutes, but there is also a manual heat and manual vent button on the screen. I can't figure out how to make these buttons useful.
If I go to the car and unlock it then turn the "infotainment system" on and go to the timed climate screen the buttons are greyed out. If I turn the ignition on and then off again they become active. If I press the manual heat button the FBH activates and then the blowers and warm air starts to blow in to the car until the dashboard display switches off on it's timer after 3 minutes and then the FBH shuts down. If I leave the car after starting the heater it shuts down as soon as I lock the car.
I assumed that the intended use of the manual heat button would be something like wake up on a cold morning and 20 minutes before you need to drive the car go out and switch it on so that you have a warm car when you want to set off. This doesn't seem to be possible unless you set the timer.
Any ideas how to use the manual buttons effectively?
My 2013 XS does this, how did you cure it???

Have vauge recollection on my MY11 this option only worked when engine was warm, does not use FBH but residual heat from engine if you have parked up a little while and start to feel chilly.
Havent looked into on MY12 as have other issues which looking into. D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Checked mine last night.
Buttons all greyed out on ignition and with engine running.
Switched off then pressed "infotainment system" selected timers and this time buttons showed up.
Pressed heat and started to blow air in cab, engine was warm before doing this.

@lespes - how long did it run for?
@bammmy - mine switches off after 2-3 minutes, at the same time that the LCD display between the speedo and rev-counter turns itself off. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

no its not ...the timed part is for pre warming the car .
the buttons are only active when you turn on the screen ...say while waiting in the car and dont want to start the engine .
When you turn the screen off ( or landrovers new great idea of a self turning off screen after a set period) the buttons deactivate and switch off the heating / venting. G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Never timed it but 3 mins seems about right, not that long just enough to take chill off if sat in the car. D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

My vehicle does the same thing - whilst the +/- 3 mins after opening / unlocking the door is counting down, manual heat works fine. The second that times out, off goes the FBH..
I'm sure other owners of MY10 & 11 don't have this issue? i.e. Manual Heat persists beyond that 3min time period?
I'd quite like to resolve this if at all possible?

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I'm having the same issue.
My FBH works perfectly for 30 minutes when programmed by the "timed climate" function.
But unfortunately, when I use the "manual heating" button, the FBH stops after around 3 minutes. I've seen with the IIDtool that each time it fails, the "parking heater error" count is incremented. This count can be erased by disconnecting FBH supply or by erasing fault in advanced menu of the IIDtool.
I've made some tests with the Thermo test software, but haven't seen anything special.
I'm curious to know how many owners have or haven't this issue with manual heat, because I encounter the same issue when starting my FBH with the remote controller (eBay converter on W-bus wire).
Thanks.
