Don't forget that the D3 records how much time (or miles) is spent in each TR mode, to assist the dealers with diagnosing faults
... so as "to assist the dealers" in charging you more?!? Or maybe i'm becoming too cynical
As long as long periods in Sand mode doesn't cause excessive wear/stress on any parts, I can't see why it shouldn't be used all the time... anyone disagree?DGRR

I'm not sure I believe the wisdom of this. If you lock the centre diff, then the front/back power ratios will be equalised (won't they?). If that happens, wouldn't you screw up the computer calculations with regard to the cornering/levelling stuff? I doubt it would affect the tyres if the axle diffs wereen't locked.

for me the most important is getting away easy on a straight hillclimb, so one's I'm on the move, I can switch back to normal.
Much easier than switching from low to high with all these electronicsIn a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

How many diffs are there?? I understood there to be just 2 (centre & rear?), as seen on the 4x4 display when TR modes selected...DGRR

with rear as being an option (or is it standard on an HSE?)In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.
It also backs off the DSC so dont try any quick cornering. 2.7t will start to understeer pretty quick
It doesn't handle too badly without the DSC:
I once pushed the D3 fairly quickly round some quite hilly twisties near us and was quite impressed with the DSC's ability to keep such a heavy car on the the road ....
... until I realised I had forgotten to put it back on when I arrived on the tarmac before the bends and hills !!

if you changed program, DSC is automatically switched on again In a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

I tried a sand-mode launch this morning to get across a busy road...didn't notice any difference whatsoever versus normal mode Both modes were snappy and had good smooth hard acceleration.
So, is the 2007 normal map that much better or is my sand-mode broken???Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
07MY is a lot more snappy on pickup anyway than earlier models so that could be an explanation.Back in the game!

just count yourself lucky at having the MY07 car. I've not driven one, but, according to a few contributors to this site who are also lucky enough to have an MY07, the slow pick-up problem with the earlier cars has apparently now been fixed. For the rest of us, it's Sand mode or TC DGRR
