Dealer didn't reset service indicator (or didn't service) |
|
Hi,
Purchased my 2010 HSE in July from main dealer a couple of hours drive away. It is an ex LR company vehicle. Agreed on the deal to have 2nd service done, even though had only done 14k, as it was just coming up to 24 months old. All good with the deal. Service book stamped etc. Now there are a couple of anomalies with the records. Upon receiving the V5C I was a little surprised to find that, although it is an ex LR company car, the dealer had registered it to themselves approx 6 months earlier. Making me the 3rd owner. However I hadn't actually asked dealer about previous registered owners. During that 6 months it only drove 350 miles. I don't think it was stood on their forecourt all this time though, as I had been watching the LR Approved Used for about 6 or 7 weeks prior to it appearing as I was after the specific model and colour.
The first service was not done until 19/12/11 when the car was already 18 months old, even though it was in LR ownership.
Now I have the service required warning. So I suspect that as it had only covered 350 miles that dealer just stamped the service book - this in itself doesn't worry me, except I imagine there should be some different items covered on 24 month service to 12 month.
So -
1. Is it odd that dealer registered change of ownership, but didn't use it?
2. Is it odd that LR left it 18 months before first service?
3. Is there any other way of telling if it was serviced. Or, should I just not bother about it, and contact dealer to put it into their hands to have the service required warning reset?
BTW I love the car. Rich

Thanks - its not the service last year I'm wondering about. As the service required indicator is now on I assume that one was done. Its July 2012 that I suspect may not have been done, otherwise why would I now have the indicator? I think the dealer may have just stamped the book. I'm not really worried as it had only done such a small mileage in the intervening period, and having the stamps in the book should cover me for warranty and resale value. Rich
