Anderson Connector - where is yours?

After suffering a flat battery at the weekend and finding it very difficult to reach with the jump leads because of where we were parked, I think an Anderson Plug may be a good investment, just to be used for jump starting (at this time).

Where do you get them?
Where is yours fitted?
What Amp rating do you need for Jump Starting?
What size cables are needed?
Where should it be connected to, battery for positive and where for the negative?
Is it easy enough to get onto the positive connection or is a slight mod needed?

Any other advice or piccies welcome.

Thanks

Where do you get them?

Ebay

Where is yours fitted?

behind the rear bumper - ive then got an anderson connecter on once end of some heavy duty jump leads

What Amp rating do you need for Jump Starting?
What size cables are needed?

Ive got 35mm2 cable suitable for running a rear winch and jump starting with a 250A fuse on the battery - this could do with being reduced a bit though!!

Where should it be connected to, battery for positive and where for the negative?

+ve on battery and -ve to earth stud (theres one behind the LHS wheel arch underneath the battery/fuse box)

Is it easy enough to get onto the positive connection or is a slight mod needed?

Easy

I have no idea, the car was only built in June this year so its not an old battery. I don't think anything was left on for too long a period, it is going in for the hesitation to be checked shortly, this will be added to the list.

Mine is at the back for the rear winch and fed from the number two battery. The removable panel for the reat tow point has space on each side for the 7-pin tow electrics, but now everybody uses the single 13-pin version the Anderson socket can go in there. There is even a mounting bracket available!

I was thinking of mounting an Anderson connector as near to the batter as possible.

I looked at either this:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANDERSON-DURITE-...1e73757245

or this:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANDERSON-DURITE-...20cc78b9d4

has anyone used either of these?

If I had a D4 less

than 6 months old with a battery that had gone flat through no fault of my own
I would be at the dealer

I use Torberry Connectors for my anderson bits and pieces very good service for next day and reasonable prices.

Got my anderson plug also behind the removable panel for the tow sockets.
