It dose make a difference when you can get information on a forum especially as helpful as this one, It makes a differance. Thumbs Up

Had 2 Touareg Altitude's good motors, but not as special as a Disco having the knowledge you can go almost everywhere you ever wanted and then some.....

I was sceptical that the wife would manage with the perceived large size of the d3 when we got it, so much so we hung on to our previous car in case the d3 had to go back.

No way. She wouldn't let me sell it now.

Sometimes you have to be selective when choosing a parking space but that's about it.

If you do get one, love her and enjoy.

also on the VW you will be shelling out for new rubber on the front every 12k miles....they eat them big time on the inside edges.... just like the Q7 Shocked

I have just bought an '05 2.7 Auto S for 9.2K, but much lower spec but lower miles so seems a good deal to me! although prices are lower "doon sooth" Usual words of wisdom, check the service record and also see if they still have any of the old invoices for repairs (there must have been several by that mileage).

Mine needed (obvious during test drive) new front wishbones although front prop shaft was a surprise! and I am sure if you scan these forums you will pick up what to look for on your test drive.

No doubt I will be asking my own questions soon, but as mentioned, don't assume the Disco is unreliable just because you read lots of problems on this forum, that's what it is for!!

Last year I took a '94 V8 auto Disco round Queensland, about 10,000kms over 9 weeks including the notorious OTT and the only problem I had (apart from spot light falling off on the corrugations) was a fuel pump packing in.

Make sure you get it in time to enjoy the snow!

Oh course I would recommend a Disco - esp. the V8 petrol... Razz

...However, given your mileage ('30 miles minimum a day'), and the fact that you are considering a soft roader I would suggest that you give the Lexus RX400 a trial.

My mate has both Disco and Lexus but uses one or t'other according to the job in hand. He does similar miles in the RX400 and regularly sees 35 mpg, whereas you'd see half that in the Disco. That might save you 1/2 your fuel bills. If you are on a budget then this is worth thinking about. The chances are that your wife would love either.

I used to drive an RX300 and thought it was brilliant for a roadie. For off-road though - and seven seats - you can't beat a Disco.

That's more than I paid, although to be fair it was a couple of years ago now. The best thing is to wait and you'll probably get a phone call from them offering the warranty at a reduced rate.

Well, had a phonecall from them and have managed to get the price down to £599 at an indy or £650 at a franchised dealer.

Shame i cant seem to find a car i like. Sad

Really not a fan of the Lexus.
I really don't need a LR3 for its size, off road capability but i know i would regret getting anything else (bar a FFRR)

£12k for a car with 132,000 miles seems like such strong money..

I think i said before but i have an 05 HSE with 78k miles on the clock. Black with cream leather. I would not expect that i would be getting more than £13k for that at the moment. There fore i think with that many miles on it it should be closer to 11.5k. I may however be low in my valuation?
