Hmm That is strange as LRSV have refused to make the V8 for RHD i believe posts on here have said yet low and behold there is a D4 V8 SE on the kings highway....

Why would SV need to toy with it - The V8 is available in ZA, OZ and other markets in RHD (LHT)

That's the problem, they said it couldn't be done to a member on here yet it seems fine in Other countries...

D4/SSRR near enough the same and i'd bet it would fit Wink

Hmm imagine that, a TDV8 in a D4... with a nice JE or BAS remap that would certainly get a few purchase from you lads i bet!

The difference between the SDV6 and TDV8 in terms of performance in the new FFRR i.e. 1 sec 0-60 and 5 mph top speed mean that the TDV8 just doesn't make sense in terms of price nor economy Whistle

DG Correct

D4 TDV8 Not gonna happen

Lower tax D4 with lower emissions - now that's a rabbit out the hat to boost sales towards the end of the model cycle Whistle

Its not that straight line performance that really matters now is it. a diesel is all about in gear acceleration and smooth low kicking torque curve. Of course this is different if your the audi lemans team Very Happy

seriously though, if there wasn't that much difference in the purchase price, ie maybe 1-3k how many would chose for towing, the reduced worry about the cambelts needing done, and the real world economy difference Smile

It really would be nice to see one as one from a RRS thats body has been bugered would look good on a disco whose chassis has been heavily damaged...

It would fit and work albeit the body would want to be setup as an RRS system Smile

Problem with the TDV8 is that it is a niche engine and will lag ito development. Other than the FFRR what else uses the 4.4L ?

The 4.4 unit won't fit the d4/rrs but the 3.6 does. They are very different beasts Wink

Exactly - the 3.6 is no longer used in production (that I know of) and unless they equip the new RRS with the 4.4L, I just don't see the volumes to further development on the engine. I assume in the development of the 4.4L, that it was (initially) slated to be used by Ford in multiple applications to gain volume, which has yet to materialise, pity really .... (if it was a Cayenne S Diesel "engine" competitor I may consider switching to an Oil Burner)

I wonder if they ran into reliability issues with them?! Seemed to be enough demand and was a good engine from personal experience Smile

Ford having designed the 4.4 TDV8 engine then decided not to use it and basically handed it over to JLR along with the associated development costs. No reliability issues with the 4.4 TDV8 that I've heard of.

As to it being fitted to the all new RRSport, all will be revealed on 26th March.

So as far as I can make out very little changed 2011-2012-2013 and if that mule is anything to go by, also 2014. Hopefully on next proper release they bring some of the tech they've put in this year's FFRR and RRS to reduce the overall weight, so they can start making some more room for people, put back the rear aircon and add diesel hybrid options from the Rang-e.

I'm assuming the MY14 updates will be the most significant changes since the D3 morphed into the D4. I don't imagine the engine lineup will change in the UK, but new lights with Range Rover-style LED DRLs and general styling updates sound brilliant. I'm awaiting official news and pictures with baited breath!
