Well I can see why the mechanic signed off and said he won't be back with attitude and criticism like he has got on here! I feel it was unjustified and uncalled for! I, along with the Doctor Diesel and a few others seem to take a sympathetic view of the situation. I can see my chosen car as a luxury that not all can afford. Maybe some of the critics should climb down from there higher place and take the bloke at face value. Having read some of his other comments on other posts he seems to talk sense to me! I am NOT associated with him in any way and if the site owner can confirm this then please do! Although having just registered I'm not sure if I want to keep company with others that can dismiss someone because he has an overdraught! I wish the QLRM good luck..

I think the guy is haveing a crap day at work and just wanted to vent his frustration. Give him a break we all feel the same at various points in our working lives. Loving the power of the TDV8!

We have all lead different and varied lives, have all ended up better or worse off than others.
This is part of what makes this forum an interesting place to meet and discuss our vehicles, vent our frustrations or just have some fun.
Whatever the reality behind this thread, lets leave it be now.
If 'qualified LR mechanic' is genuine then I hope he comes back and adds to this mix. If not then we can move on.

We all have a sob story about some part of our lives.....but in reality the only thing in life you HAVE to do is die. Whilst I would understand the chaps frustration if his story were true.... we all have an option IF we want to take it. This is not the best environment for the chap to take up personal issues over his employment contract.
If one chooses to post about such issues then one must expect views and opinions from all in a relative context....good or bad....and if you don't like that then you have an option too 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I love LR mechanics - they rock! They let me go back & observe (pester ) while they work their magic on my truck and I learn a lot from that. Much rather do that than sit in a waiting room, actually makes it kinda fun
Much respect QLRM... I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Gents,
To give you an idea what comes out of your £100 per hour:
Wages
Technician (actually around £15-20 p/h)
Service Reception staff
Service Manager
Valeters
Drivers (collection and delivery etc)
Other overheads
Utilities (Gas, Water, Elec etc)
Rates
Training for Technicians
Specialist tools, diagnostics equipment etc
Courtesy cars
And everything else that goes with running a business
And if we are lucky enough
Profit!
That said, we will ALWAYS price match!
Kind regards
Mike
