SWMBO has just read this thread and is swaying.
When I explained that the manual D4 is really a D3 with a D4 skin on it did make us laughter

I own a D4 manual with the 2.7 ...... it's a lovely car to drive. I also prefer the slightly softer dash/interior over the D3.
I have been told by a LR tech that most were destined for LR contract work, hence are pretty rare in the 'real' world. All are GS spec & therefore lack many toys, didn't bother me as most of the toys I wanted weren't on the LR options list in the first place
The same tech told me that despite running the 2.7 engine they run different ECU's, closer to the 3.0 engine but I've never had this verified. I have to say I've only driven one manual D3 but it didn't feel as smooth & fast as mine but that is hardly a scientific comparison.
Some extras can be fitted ..... I've had CC enabled, works fine with the manual box. Especially on motorways you hardly ever drop out of 6th gear. You are restricted enabling some extras due to the lack of the satnav screen, unless you are lucky enough to find one that someone spec'ed with satnav.
Despite all of the above I'd have an auto by choice purely because I'm lazy, but back when I bought mine it was buy a manual D4 or an auto D3 & I wanted the newer vehicle. Mine had 15k miles, FLRSH, 1 owner & came from Stratstones for £25k, that was 18mths ago. Nick

The Auto is great, especially with the flappy paddle, don't miss the manual at all especially when in traffic. If still insistent on on a 2.7, then a remap would get you close to D4 power Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Nick - thanks very much for the comprehensive write up
Dave - thanks, actually looks a really nice colour combination. Are those standard GS wheels as look like the old XS wheels.

The steering wheel has cruise and phone controls so a bonus for the GS. Just hope they actually work

Phone controls are standard on the GS but without the satnav screen you cannot activate full voice control.
Having CC switches fitted is very useful, the fact that they're there means I'd be surprised if they didn't work but enabling them is easy & various people here on the forum can do it. Nick

Oops. Sorry DJ 'twas me!
Saw it Wednesday and decided to take it on Thursday morning. Picked it up yesterday and dropped it back this morning due to clutch slip and XY sensor fault.
Lets hope it gets a new clutch before I get it back.

Oh well at least another forum member purchased it
The other one I looked at with 38,000 miles on had already had a revised clutch installed so maybe a revised part will help. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE
