Hello everyone,
I have been trying to place an order for a MY14 D4. I have been talking to my LR dealer (Stratstone London) and they gave me an offer for a MY13 back in late July 2013. I asked for a MY14 and they told me that I have to wait till mid September 2013 in order to be able to do that and till the new MY14 specs and prices are out.
I've seen many members in the forum saying that they are about to get their new D4's MY14 delivered in September. Could you people shed some light on how's that possible, how did you work your MY14 specs out since they are not yet officially available from LR and if I can place an order for MY14 now (there is a new member of the family to be delivered in Feb  so our D4 has to be delivered by late Nov/Dec 2013 the latest, so that the wife can travel with me up north to get the vehicle)! Is there a way to reserve a MY14 build slot at the factory?

Usually LR release the new MY in September but this year for reasons unknown it is likely that D4 MY will not be released then. I've been led to believe that deliveries of 2014MY D4 may not start until late October/early November which would tend to fit with Dealers taking orders in mid September.
Dealers should be able to reserve a 2014 build slot.

Any idea of how to reserve the build slot? I guess some (not the full) deposit would suffice? Or could the dealer just reserve this out of good will? I realise I'll have to contact my dealer, but it would be nice to know beforehand.

Dealers have an allocation of build slots which they usually firm up when they get a confirmed order. From my limited experience if you tell your Dealer you want to order a MY2014 D4 and you want delivery early in the build cycle and you'll usually find the Dealer will do the deal.
If your Dealer won't play ball try asking Jeremy at Hadley Green Land Rover (Forum Sponsors) who will give you the definitive answer and probably do you a deal.

I will contact my dealer asap. I'm afraid it's gonna be an export vehicle so has to go through the tourist/diplomatic sales. Maybe I'll contact Jeremy as well, just in case they can handle this case.

According to Hunters of Guildford, MY14 details are due any day now... D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

Details may be released any day now but we've been told we won't be getting the 2 x 2014 MY D4 we have on order until November and we're supposed to be a priority customer.

As yet no sign of the 14my details but as Evoque 14my info has just been released I would expect it soon.
As a dealer we are taking inital orders for the slots and have potentially filled our first order call for them.
November is most likely when the first vehicles will start to be delivered, I'll update you as we know more!

Sightly off-topic, but knowing that 14s will be announced within weeks, shouldn't dealers be willing to make a deal on their current stock of 13s starting about now?
I've been offered just $1,100 off MSRP on a MY13 HSE Lux. Why would I pay that when I can wait two months and get a 14? They tell me this is the best offer they can give me but I'm not so sure. 2013 LR4 HSE lux | Santorini Black | 5.0 V8
