if you are coming out of oem or other warranty then it’s continuous, plus it’s only the wear and tear part that applies t

So if crank or bearing failed in first 90 days wd would not payout

That's in interesting one. Ours has failed, 3 years and 6 day old Disco 4, spent those 6 days having warranty work done by JLR so not in our possession, failed following day. New engine required. We took out the Extended Warranty and it is not covered apparently. So would I also be right in it not covered by WD as it would have been within 90 days, even though it would have been continuous coverage from manufacturer?

If it’s the LR extended warranty I don’t think it covers crank failure full stop, it’s administered by a 3rd party who don’t pay as it’s a ‘known fault’

If it’s gone bang only 6 days over the original warranty, surely even by LR’s abysmal standards they will make a sizeable contribution for a replacement engine.

That's right I took out my WD warranty to follow on directly from manufacturers warranty. There is no gap in coverage if you do that.

Good luck with pushing LR to resolve this issue for you. 3yr 6 days is very unlucky. I understand the LR extended warranty doesn't cover the crank issue (I asked specifically on this point ) and that if they do assist with the costs it requires a goodwill gesture from the manufacturer. If you have a full LR service history and the car is only 6 days out of manufacturers warranty I would hope that a significant amount of goodwill is provided by LR.
Good luck with that

As my car will come out of the manufacturers warranty on the 22nd of September, I took out a WD warranty yesterday, to start the same day so there is no break in cover. 3 years cover, every available module, no excess, no contribution and uncapped labour rate for £1363 which works out at £455 per year.

I think that's a pretty reasonable price given that the LR extended warranty is £900 per year and doesn't cover the dreaded crankshaft failure.

Hi again.

had a call from their sales team yesterday and asked about the Recommend a Friend scheme?

they said if you call up after a month and give your name and policy number along with the friend that recommended them, their post code and policy number, the friend gets £50 and you £25 E-vouchers
I have just had a look at their website and it says give friends policy number and PC when you take out the policy "over the phone" to get the vouchers each Question

I had thought Kirky speak to peteyd speak to washwipe speak to B16kjr and then me, then who's next and we all get £75 each Very Happy (e-vouchers)

but it may/may not work Confused

either way if I do go for a policy at the start of Sept I will drop a PM

let us know if anyone tries it before then Thumbs Up

That explains the keen price. WD are very mileage sensitive.

Just curious if anyone has any info on the new Approved Used Land Rover warranty program. As of September 1st, LR dropped their Approved Used warranty coverage down to 1 year only. Is there a change in warranty provider? Is the crank failure still not covered?

Just curious if they swapped providers to cover crank failures, resulting in less period of coverage. Or, the more likely answer, they were just saving costs and dropping a year off the already substandard warranty.

It would be good to know the exact details of the September 1st changes to warranty.

Warranty Direct must place the D4 in the ‘will definitely need fixing at some stage’ category.

My sister has just purchased an Audi Q5. 66 plate just out of manufactures warranty with 20k on the clock. Every module ticked, main dealer rates, 3 years cover, a tad over £700 Big Cry

Very similar age and mileage to my D4 when it’s LR warranty ended and I was quoted a lot more than £700.

Is an Audi any less complex than a D4? Or are WD confirming what most of us already know.

LRs really are prone to breaking Sad
