It's a tricky decision for me!! Spend £1000 and risk needing to spend £2000 more or spend £2000 and risk spending £1000 more than needed!

Confused

To be honest, yours is pretty high mileage so perhaps a recon box is more justified. Mine's on about 118k and it only started juddering about three weeks ago. I figure I've caught it early enough to take the risk of a new TC only.

The above is my thinking too. If mine had gone at your mileage, I think I would have had the full recon for piece of mind. Bear in mind, the money would not be entirely wasted even if it's not directly needed - it would still restore your box to a better condition. Thumbs Up

I've just (a few weeks back) had mine done there, was really happy with the whole experience and will happily go back if needs be.

Having received a first class service I’m now more than happy to recommend Express Gearbox in Portsmouth.
http://www.expressgearbox.co.uk/

They had the car two days, supplied and fitted a refurbished Torque Converter, changed the pan/filter etc for a very reasonable price.
They do so many D3s that they also had in stock several additional small parts like bolts, filler plug, and the wiring sleeve that needed to be replaced.
