The leak on the offside is quite obvious with engine on and moving of the wheel, it didn’t take long to start leaking again from the end of the rack and it’s clear now that the seal has failed.
Will look to replace the rack this week.
Not ideal working on the driveway.... oh and here comes the rain for the next few days..... happy days

So I finally managed to source a good secondhand rack and I fitted it over the weekend.
Rack was bled and correct LR cold climate fluid used to fill.
I didn’t think it would have made a difference as it was locked in position, but steering wheel now slightly off centre so booked in for tracking adjustment tomorrow.
I needed to run the car today to get to work and the Christmas tree lights appeared with a vengeance every 1/2 mile or so. A restart would reset would returned every single time with usual special programs off etc etc making it almost undriveable due to suspension dropping.... why does it do that ?
Anyway.... surely no coincidence that this has happened following the rack replacement, what is it likely to be ? Steering angle sensor reset do you think??
I’ve plugged in my icarsoft obd reader which is usually pretty good at diagnosing things, but not this time.
Any suggestions as after almost six years of ownership.... this really is testing my patience after being recovered from north wales with the family because of the rack and now this.... ggrrr
I suspect it may be time to consider moving on but would welcome ideas before I commit.
Thanks

Has it ever had a replacement lower steering column fitted and is the steering rack genuine LR?

The lower column is my original and replacement rack is genuine LR.
I had to disconnect the rack above the top joint in order to remove the original, access was from above as near impossible from below.
I assumed all would go back as it was, as the rack is profiled so that refitting is back the same way it is removed and cannot be changed..... or so I thought.
The more I have read about this, I’m hoping it’s just a case of re-align tracking tomorrow at the garage and then follow recalibrate steering angle sensor..... fingers crossed.
It’s not a million miles out, but we know how finicky and fussy the D3 can be and it doesn’t take much to start throwing errors.
Will see what tomorrow brings.

Well I’m pleased to report that tracking and wheel alignment appears to have rectified the warning light issues and I now have my D3 back.
As suspected it was the steering angle sensor that needed resetting once the wheels and steering were running true.
Thanks all for the advice and support
Much appreciated
