Air Suspension Dropping One Corner Only

Afternoon,

Apologies if this has been asked a million times.

We have a 2005 D3 and have had to have the compressor replaced twice in the last 9 months so are slightly paranoid about the air suspension. The most recent replacement was due to multiple holes in the reservoir causing the compressor to burn out.

We have noticed that the car is dropping one corner overnight (not self-levelling) and are worried there is another leak.

We have parked the car on a flat surface and read the heights using iCarsoft. Is it normal to have a large variation in heights ? Is zero "standard" ?

Measuring the wheel centre to arch I get:

FL: 47.0
FR: 48.5
RL: 49.5
RR: 50.5

Has anyone else had a similar issue ?

Thanks,

David

Front suspension dropping overnight.

Morning,

Further to my first message, I disconnected the battery last night to try to narrow down the problem.

Last night:

FR: 48.0
FL: 46.5
RR: 50.0
RL: 50.0

This morning:

FR: 45.0
FL: 42.5

RR: 50.0
RL: 49.5

The front has dropped fairly consistently, so does this mean the valve block is likely to be at fault ?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks,

David

The first time my fronts dropped it was the front valve block. Another time it was a leaky voss fitting at the front left strut. When the condenser cracked, the front would drop first, then the rear after a couple of days.

I recently had to chase this problem again, front dropped noticeably overnight, compressor overworking, the rear was fine. I re-replaced the front valve block, and then the reservoir block... no joy. Turns out it was the reservoir tank leaking. It looked good from below, but after I pulled it the top was badly rusted and I could hear the leak. Since replacing the tank the suspension is holding air perfectly.

Spray soapy water and look for leaks. I've found the rear suspension on these vehicles seems more immune to central issues such as reservoir tank, condensor, etc The front will often start dropping first. Check everything. What OBD codes does you iCarsoft show?

Might be a silly question but do you get any fault codes?

Besides that I second what CoopLR3 said above: possibly valve-block or leaky air strut.
