steering wheel controls for TDV6 |
|
Hi,
I have not long bought a 55 plate TDV6 (base with air suspension) and finding the information here very useful. I have seen a lot of posts about retro fitting cruise and radio controls. My question is, do I have to buy the controls listed, e.g. XPD500500WVH or will any of the controls be compatible e.g.XPD500730. Just thinking can i use this alternate part but just not have the phone connection work?

Done this mod to my 08GS using genuine parts. Radio is just plug and play but cruise will need to be enabled loads on here can do this for you. Well worth doing as we'll has a new smooth leather steering wheel from TLO

Thanks for the quick response. I have read with interest how other people have done it, but with mine being an older car I was worried about having to buy specific type of switch. I have seen some switches from time to time on ebay that do not match perfectly, but thought a long as the buttons i want work i do not care about voice activation or telephone. As long as I have the option of bying different ones may keep the price down as I am sure i will be spending money on other area's of the car. Bearings, brakes etc.

I have a XPD500500WVH (RHS Audio Controls) that I am looking to move on if you're interested? Just removed it from my 2006 D3. Mint condition. PM for details.

And yes, as long as you have the button you want on a switch pack then any switch pack will work - the other buttons will just be functionless. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

^^^^^^ What Martin said, although it you buy any of the switches with Telephone and Voice buttons on them you're into the realms of hacking chunks out of your steering wheel cowling. Easy, with a Dremel, but unnecessary unless you want phone integration.
