What type of pins and from where?

I'm missing both pins from the socket on the back of the headlight:

if you buy a adapter set of connectors from ebay they not only are pre wired but have the water tight seal also on them Shocked

not cheap but makes adding the easiest thing too do.

There is a site I will look it up to get the email address you can buy the parts but its not cheap obviously.

you could go to a breakers with smashed front and get both headlight plug and wiring plug which would give you heaps of spare pins pre wired.

sure someone has a knackered headlight somewhere.. Thumbs Up

I did a trial crimp before going near the plug, the headlight one rotates and goes into the headlight, so you are as well to just push the pin in in situ in the headlight!!

only advise is use the right gauge of wire or the water seal on the car plug for the ones doing that part, will not fit in the taper tube it goes into if too big Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Can I just jump in and ask: do you have to have adaptive head lamps to get cornering lights Question

No but the functionality you get from the cornering lamps is different depending on whether you have adaptive (AFS) headlamps or not.

This is looking like a great D4 mod however I have some specific questions:
Exactly what product do you need to get the pins for the plug attached to the back of the headlight?
Does the bulb shown earlier in the post fit properly into the socket once the silver dome is removed?
How best to remove the silver dome without losing it inside the headlamp?

Discoteca Yes the bulb holder and bulb part number as above comes as one piece price was £10 each and seems to lock straight in to the hole the dome comes out of. as for the blinking dome I used a the biggest drill bit I had to drill the majority of it out then used a soldering iron to melt one side out completely, however on one light I had already popped the dome into the light so had to fiddle about melting a bit at a time and this was a real pain!!!! I am sat here by the front door eagerly awaiting the post man for the pins so if all goes well I will post an update later today, however the connectors for the bulbs cost £4.62 each and the pins were £12 for a whole plug with 16 pins. Total cost about £40!

I stress that I have not done it yet (and hopefully Matt will post pictures later) but having done similar things in the past I found heating a drill bit and melting through the plastic to be a good method as it leaves no bits in the headlight. Sockets like those fitted to the headlight usually unlock with a screwdriver, sometimes with a quarter turn, and pull out. Pins are then inserted from the cable side.

I had adaptive and cornering lights on my D3 HSE and found them to be great. I asked Pete Bell if he could activate cornering lights on my D4, and he told me that unless I had adaptive lights already fitted it could not be done as the cornering lights are not there, I shall follow t his thread with great interest now Thumbs Up
