Well that lasted 11 days and is now back at the garage Evil or Very Mad

Looks like they fitted the bottom radiator hose so close to the pulleys , that it was rubbing on the hose and eventually cut into it .

Saw a bit of smoke / steam at the traffic lights yesterday .. checked under bonnet to find everting covered in fluid .To be honest it looked more like a power steering fluid than water .

Set of home then got the dreaded low Coolant warning on dash

Got to a safe place ( pub ) and called LR assistance.

AA came out , but couldn't do any temp fix .

Filled back up with water and decided to drive it to dealers before they closed at 6pm ( would of been shut if waited for recovery truck )

AA followed me and we stopped half way to top up again )

Now waiting for LR assist to get me a replacement car !

Just been on phone to me .. unfortunately since they now don't use enterprise, they can only get an allocated car from the dealership.. and unfortunately can't do anything till 8am tomorrow Crying or Very sad

She did ask me if I needed to go anywhere .. that she would pre book taxies for me

She has been very helpful .. just doesn't help if you break down on a Sunday!

Hope the new problem gets sorted. Re the £10K bill - my main dealer bill to Warranty Direct for my replacement engine + labour was about the same - but that was for - 2.7 and 3 or so years ago. Suprised the 3.0 wasn't substantially more.

Got my car back today with a new engine and new gear selector ( separate illumination issue .. nout to do with engine failure )

So iv been told is a full engine ( not a short block ) , but they do transfer stuff over once it's been checked .

I can see the new bottom half , but can't see much else ( not much room in there )

I have been given a new engine number for the V5

Everything is back working , the only thing they did not refit was the non standard sump guard and didn't reconnect the traxide dual battery leads .

All my other goodies .. winch / strobes etc still all operational Very Happy

So iv loaded it back up with my tools .. and off to Gloucester tomorrow, so it will get a good test

I must say I can't fault LR assist and my dealer so far .

1 AA van , 3 relay trucks , pre paid taxi to dealers , new sport to smoke around in , car back withing 9 days , all clean and valeted and kept informed by dealers all the way Thumbs Up

And just in case your interested .. there bill to LR was £10,280 and another £400 for gear selector Shocked

Thank god for warranty

And thank god Barrie is back at the helm i'd say Whistle
Not been on here much lately but back now and just reading the shocking posts with myself looking at a possible upgrade to a used D4 i may think again.
Glad you got sorted Ade and in record time Thumbs Up
