Scary reading for those that buy the TDV6 powered D5 as well
Supposedly three more years of the SDV6 mind ...though as in this case less scary when you know warranty will cover it.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

What I I find particularly worrying is that this has been a known potential failure for so long. I am getting uneasy. It looks like my car has gone over the Luxury care mileage limit

How far over? A phone call to then offering to to commit now might solicit a more flexible response.

72k might be a bit much over the 60k inception limit in the policy doc but might be worth a phone call. Try the old "I want LuxCare or else I take out a LR warranty" line. It might work.

Sorry to hear the news and at quite a low mileage as well.
I'll definitely take out a warranty on the D4 when it's three years old.
At least it is covered by main warranty but engines shouldn't be failing at that mileage.D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.

I understand Car Care Plan operate the LR warranty, it is not exactly the same as the CSMA Car Care Plan warranty, but operated similarly. I think the real benefit in the extra cost of LR warranty is it covers everything, every last nut and bolt. But it is expensive.Rodey L

I wonder how much the DPF and overly long service interval has contributed to these failures?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I fear for my Fiat Ducato van. Service intervals on that are 24 months or 30k miles.
The warranty runs out on that in September!!Discovery 4 HSE

Is anyone doing extra oil and filter changes between the LR intervals to try and help?
