This document refers to pre 2012 engines, and I think it refers to possibly a different problem ie rotation of bearing shells at manufacture or in service.
As Wiggs car is 2015, it should have the new type assembly to prevent rotation of shells. Snapped cranks seem to be another kettle of fish, but sometimes may also be a consequence of a rotated shell on an earlier engine.
The problem is we just don't know what's going on inside!

An engine that is demanded too much with an increase of displacement, an increase of power and a pair increase so great, while maintaining almost the same engineering, it is logical that it loses reliability IMHOlost in translation!

Is anyone doing extra oil and filter changes between the LR intervals to try and help?
I've had my D3 from new. Always had a 7500 mile genuine oil and filter change in between the scheduled services and my engine curled its toes up at 150000 milesPot Noodle Challenge Winner 2011

Warranty wise paid towards my new engine no questions asked, I'd only taken 4K cover though thinking that would cover all eventualities not realising Landrovers seem to eat engines for fun

Hopefully they haven't just taken your old crank out & fixed it with a bit of blue tac.
Good your back in business and no longer posing in the snort.
