And greetings from our 3rd hotel in Singapore, first was the InterCont Singapore, then the Fullerton Hotel (a deal was available on hotels.com that we couldn’t refuse, plus we got to use a big number voucher) and now the IC Robertson Quay. Sun is going down, as is wine and nibbles, with a great urban view.

Will bung up some more pics tonight, subject to VC consumption. Whistle Whistle

And when it rains it rains, though this is nothing like the downpour yesterday morning, then it was truly chucking it down. Luckily we just had a look and went back to bed.

No comments you lot!!

Our fave mode of tpt here, the big green buses. Great when you get top deck front row, even better when SWMBO has had enough AC and I get max blast of coolness. Thumbs Up

Walk up the river.

Off to Sing Zoo today and tonight, not sure we’re going to find a wombat t-shirt though. Sad

And good bye Singapore, we’ll until next year. Loved our stay there and looking forward to returning.

And hello Bangkok!

It’s hot, it’s humid but loving being back here. View from the lounge of the HI after sunset.

We are changing hotel tomorrow to the IC, all of 50m away. It’s just undergone a several month refurbishment and we are aiming to be the first peeps to check in. We’re hoping for a marching band, ticker tape parade and a fly past. Well if we had the latter in Windsor NSW courtesy of the SingAF it would be rude for the Thai AF not to raise the bar. Whistle

And got great pics from the Singapore zoo and bird park, will bung up later. Thumbs Up

A few zoo pics. The zoo visit was 4 parts, the main zoo, the River Safari, the Night Safari and the Birds Paradise that had just opened after moving from Jurong, W(ish) Singapore.

A few random pics from the main zoo. we’d booked feeding sessions with giraffes, elephant and, in the night safari, Indian rhino. All bucket list items, and fantastic. Plus cf prices in other zoos an absolute bargain at £5 a ticket!

Our next flights are on Singapore Int Airlines, Singaporeans are built like sticks! We’re just providing some decent ballast to trim the aircraft!!

And finally greetings from the newly refurbished IC hotel in Bangkok. It’s good to be back in one of our fave hotels. We were 2nd peeps to check in, lots of fanfare and bowing, even pics with the new Gen Manager. Shame i was wearing my khaki shorts and Maui t-shirt that should have been consigned to the laundry bag a while ago. Whistle Whistle

View from room on 34th floor.

SWMBO received a boooooooootiful jasmine garland. Smelt booooooootiful, masking the soggy t-shirt smells. Embarassed

Wine and chocs arrived. Strange only one glass but chocs were fab!

We have lounge access so evening cocktails and nibbles so doubt wine will be opened. View from said lounge this morning.

This afternoon was spent out on the river. Luckily no worries re traffic, good to see the Asian moto GP starts haven’t finished!

And views from on the river. It was a very pleas 36c, lower humidity than Singapore so fantastic temp. We’re back to “if it’s under 30c then it’s a bit nippy” territory.

Now settled in lounge, sipping fizz and scoffing canopies. It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it!

We used the regular river boats, pretty good and nice and cool with the through breeze. We haven’t used the long tail boats, seen too many terrified tourists riding them.

All powered by massive great diesel truck engines. Just like out of Man with the Golden Gun.

And when we were schlupping wine and scoffing nibbles spare a thought for these poor peeps in the cars and vans, they didn’t move for over 20 minutes. Looks like Bangkok traffic hasn’t gotten any better since we were last here in Dec ‘19!

It’s a religious festival day tomorrow so lounge is dry, good job we still have that bottle of VC in the above pics. Whistle

They were being thrown little treats, 1/4 chooks (too much time down under) so kind of feeding time. Peeps can feed tigers but was w/end only and sold out, we weren’t there at w/end, plus not sure re SWMBO feeding me to the tigers! Whistle

PS And re photography, anything with that much gold and bright colours is just crying out to have its pic taken. Plus in the heat and the strong sunshine the combo really pops!

PPS It’s been a while since you lot have been fed, figuratively speaking, here’s Pad Thai for breakie. Thumbs Up

And for those waking up peckish here’s Kai Krata, and no that’s not how it’s pronounced, that I guarantee.

And pics from travels yesterday.

Firstly the massive w/end market. Everything you could imagine was here, except wombat t-shirts! Thai t-shirts to elephant trousers, silk flowers to coal scuttles!

And not forgetting the food court.

This chap did fantastic deep fried bananas for 50 Baht, most scrummy!

The to Chinatown, past yet another temple while we were busy figuring out where we wanted to be/getting lost. Google maps is generally pretty good but falls down when the street names are shown in Thai! Big Cry Big Cry

Found it. Most shops were closed as it was Thai holiday but still bustling enough.

Just about avoided photobombing a K-pop type photo shoot. Tuktuk drivers landed on his feet, lots of time and not burning gas!

And wiring work that Vietnam Telecom would be proud of. Thumbs Up

It was a hot and sweaty day, this is a bit of a record for the old ball cap. I keep suggesting it goes in with the laundry but that’s not going to happen. SWMBO thinks the colour will run, that’s SWMBO-speak for “it’s a total biohazard so the only place it’s going is on your head!”.

Off back to the river today, couple of big temples to visit. Thumbs Up
