Brilliant photos again Derek - you going to find time to do Intrepid? Lots of (now no longer) flying birds to take photos of! And if Japanese food is your thing find your way down to Taste of Tokyo down in the Financial District - was my daughters go-to eatery when she lived down there!
Looking forward to where your travels take you in the US of A in the next few months - safe travels wherever you go, just keep the photo log going on this thread!
Do you have a rough route plan you can share?Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Deffo thinking of the Intrepid, it’s not too far from here.
Booked for tomorrow am, and got a BOGO, US equiv of BOGOF.
Oh, and figured out tomorrow’s diet buster. A slice of Juniors famous cheesecake.

Very jealous, I love New York.
The back stage tour of Radio City is a great thing to do, especially if the weather isn’t great.
I also love Ellen’s Stardust Diner

I’m sure it could be done, just not repeated.
And greetings from 1,200ft. I’m sure the building is swaying!

I think the swaying might due to some Dutch Courage before heading up ? I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Oooooh, that swaying isn't good for us that don't appreciate heights! Experienced that in the Burj Khalifa. Next elevator straight down please...

Got over it after a while, I think it was triggered by the elevator bouncing side to side a bit on the way up. Glad it wasn’t the Vanderbilt building, similar heights but uptown, however it has 2 outside glass elevators and outdoors viewing platform. No thanks.
Looking up from ground level. Not sure that’s sensible.

Few pics from the top. Stunning views with stunning weather. Ended up staying up there for almost and hour, could swear I was getting altitude sickness.

And where we were off to next, Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island.

Was good to be back on the ground but could swear it was swaying too!
Then off to Staute of Liberty and Ellis Island. Boat was packed, hate to think what it was like in peak season.

Didn’t stay long on Ellis Island (getting tired and wanted to get specific ferry back to Manhattan) but was as interesting as SoL.

Last full day in NY, mid-afternoon train heading west(ish) tomorrow.
PS Today’s food pic, hotdogs in the cafe on Ellis Island. And the condiments were self service, hence look so rubbish. Hit the spot though.

Great pics and commentary Del
