Hey all, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Pulled my screen out tonight to do the wire removal, and I noticed that the centre wire that you disconnect only connects to two return wires in that plug. They don't connect to anything else on the circuit board for the hard buttons. I took a chance and disconnected the other two, one at a time, and found that if second wire only is disconnected you get all the RR screens but can still control the brightness...

Have left mine set like this so I will report back once I have driven the car in daylight...

Wiggs, if you're still around, or anyone else, are you able to shed any more light on this? No pun intended.

Well the light sensor is below the Rev counter. Next to the alarm light.
Cover it up with a dark cloth (in this sunshine ) and see if display changes.

I thought you only cut one wire so am confused

Yeah I was all set to do as the post said and just happened to look at the circuit board, then the brain started ticking...

It's all back together now, with only one wire disconnected. It's the second from one end but I will have to clarify which end.

Ok, quick update.

I disconnected the SECOND wire from the yellow end of the plug instead of the fourth, or middle wire.

Everything seems to function exactly as described in previous posts.

I can adjust the screen brightness to a very acceptable level (even for australia) using the screen controls and it seems to dim with the headlights. It doesn't seem to change with ambient light though, so I think we are pretty much the same as using the 4th wire. I run daytime running lights and they don't dim the screen.

Happy to answer questions. Whistle

Hi Chris, realy interested as the only thing that’s been putting me off this is the brightness.
Can you clarify the wire you removed? Original fix was the 4th from the RED end, but you removed the 2nd from the YELLOW end? (So 6th wire from the red?)

Yep, that's correct. 2nd from the top in your photo.

I also tried the 3rd wire from the top (in your photo) and it didn't do anything, it it stayed in D3 mode.

It's been in RR mode since the day I put my first post and I've had no problems yet.

I didn't cut mine, I removed the pin from the plug so I can reverse it, but the plan is to put a switch on it.

Hi Chris,

Do you have a reversing camera, and with this wire pulled does it go into camera when you go to reverse?

Reason I ask, is I installed a reversing camera, and it does work (Went into the special Menu and could see the camera working.)

From my understanding on these threads the RR mode should make the camera come on automatically, however this isn't the case, with the second from yellow side pulled.

I'm a new guy here, this looks like a really good modification, I have read through many pages of this. So definitely the 2nd wire from the top and no adverse issues?

Thanks Paul
