Hi all
I tried this the other day as I wanted a reverse camera for hitching trailer
I had a dash cam set up with led reverse camera aiming down from the top brake light. Fixed with blue tac and worked fine always. But the dash cam is inconvenient and not very big screen
Anyways….
I wired in the new camera with the correct cable to the back of the lr3 screen unit. All works power wise but I then found out I need a CCF activation for the camera to work
My question is, can I just put the yellow wire back and keep the original mode which has a bright screen?
So have the basic bright screen and set to automatically go in to reverse screen with the reverse bulb?
I don’t see the point in it being dark screen and having to do the secret screen headache just to turn on reverse

You could wire the yellow wire through a relay so that it breaks the connection when you select reverse.
This would give you the normal screen for driving forward and the modified screen with camera when you select reverse. Andrew

Chris. Yes. Rejoin yellow wire. And use hidden screen when hooking up trailer.
Aj. That won’t work. System needs a reboot following yellow wire disconnection. Doesn’t work on the fly.

Thanks…
Pete do you mean manually do the hidden menu every time to turn it on?
If so that’s probably pointless when my plug in dash cam automatically does reverse screen
I was under the impression it could be automatic ond3 Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

I mean manually do the hidden menu, every time you want to hook the trailer up.
For automatic operation, you need to do CCF edit, which requires a licenced GAP IID (and put up with dim screen)

Hi all
I took my 2005 HSE to Land Rover to have the retrofit LR Bluetooth kit and aftermarket Reverse Camera enabled which, I had installed myself. The technician told me that, for some reason unknown to him, he couldn't update the software. He did enabled both items which, I can see are enabled via the hidden menu
To be honest, the "Level 4 Land Rover Technician" who I dealt with, didn't really fill me with confidence.
Currently, the phone kit does not work, neither does the reverse camera. I have also tried the RR conversion with no success, apart from the obvious difference screen layout.
If there is anyone out there with a solution to this, then please reply.

Does your camera work ok on the hidden screen menu ?
What phone kit did you fit ?
1) Aftermarket kit with 2 boxes at the front. (this doesn't need any CCF changes). Does your phone connect to the BT ?
2) Used loom kit from a D3, and fitted in the rear ?
3) A D4 box ?

Hi Pete
Yes, the camera works on the hidden screen.
It’s the kit with the two modules either side of the front centre console, and no, I can’t connect my phone.

There are 2, 2 pin connectors that piggy back off the rear of the cigar lighter for power.
Did you plug them in ?

I plugged the existing power supply for the power socket into the male connector on the new loom, and then placed the female plug from the new loom into the power socket.
Checked the power socket, which was fine so, assumed the loom now had power to where it needed.
The steering wheel buttons and Radio work okay.

Unfortunately not, I'm currently holding a pair of wire cutters in my hand, trying to stop myself from carrying out a viscous attack on the wiring loom.

The only other things to check is that you have battery power at both modules. (green/purple wires) which is piggy backed off the large headunit connector and you have a good ground on the black wires.
These kits aren't very good apparently when they are working. (don't display any info on the screens) So I would try and get a refund.
They don't have bluetooth acording to this:

Most people fit a D4 bluetooth unit. Rectunagular box (about £180 off ebay), that does need a CCF edit and needs connection via the optical MOST bus and power.
