Thats because it was either never intended to be there or was dropped when the final spec was agreed.
Where LR have cocked up is in not letting early purchasers like ecosse, pelyma and perhaps yourself know exactly what the spec was prior to delivery.
All I am saying is that if like me you ordered the car having seen the spec sheet which did not include the functunality of the webasto component to pre-heat the cabin you can have no complaints about it not doing so.
I also have no connection with the motor trade other than the dealings I have had with the dealership selling me my car .(correctly identified by ecosse)

Well at least LR will know they don't have to "fix" Raymond's heater!!! Wink On a more serious note, I think one problem of "having seen the spec sheet" is that there is no detailed spec sheet, and if you were to take the approach that LR could remove anything that is not specifically mentioned in their very limited spec sheet (which is really just an advertising leaflet) then you could have quite a bit of the car "disappear" Wink The spec sheets do for instance refer to a fuel burning heater - with the controls being there at delivery (and certainly previously no attempt by LR or dealers to advise that it was not a feature) it is perfectly reasonable for owners to expect full functionality from the product & the components that they have purchased. Very Happy

I'd like to point out that the manual tells you to switch off the FBH when filling with fuel - surely this implies you have control over it????? I'm sorry but this argument of it not being specified, slipping through the net etc is a load of BS. I have a great big magazine on how much the car was tested, how thorough it all was, yet still this and other issues have got through, I don't buy it and why are new cars still coming out with it in???

Please don't get me wrong I love this car to bits, what I don't love is LR's couldn't care less attitude.

I have had a conversation with trading standards regarding the FBH and they are sending me an action pack!

Their opinion is “in the absence of a detailed contracted specification or similar, a feature that is clearly on the car should be fully working.”

I will update later!

DiscoDuck,

What an excellent idea of yours, please also talk to Trading standards regarding the non full PTI retro-fit, rather than the fully PTI phone system which is now provide as factory fit. LR are changing the spec as they go along, I know they try and cover by suggesting that they reserve the right to change the specifications, but it was an agreement which is legally binding that I bought the full PTI and not some dealer fitted, cut down version just because they screwed up and could provide until the "New Year", ie: NOW!!!

Also when I spoke to the dealer before trading standards lot I got the sales manager not the after sales manager by mistake to get my "no news on FBH" bit but asked him the question anyway he said "He knew the feature was there but was unaware it did not work" Me FLABBERGASTED!!!

Listen guys i am not a one hit wonder, i am also not sticking up for landrover yes i have driven three disco 3s from base model to hse and have never got the fbh to work in any way, and i am not saying you are telling fibs, but i have tested many, even with the test you have mentioned.at the moment i am driving a L320 super charger which also has the timer in the settings menu but the car has no fuel burner, as i said last night it has never been advertised as a cabin heater.I do not think that the critisisum has been fair as i am one of you and would love the car to be fault free, but let us remeber one thing this is a brand new car from top to bottom and drives far better than disco 2
cheers lads

p.s i am from the midlands

Greenoval, when were you 'testing' all these cars?? Remember it needs to be a certain temperature to work. It is very simple, I have no mechanical or computer skills and even I can get it to work on my 54 HSE and my parents 05 SE. I'm still not sure what point you are trying to make????? This does work it is a feature that is in the car it should be fixed.

When I picked up the car in November I did not expect it to be fault free, I was just mistaken to expect any faults to be sorted with good grace! It is amazing how attitudes change when LR/Dealers have your cash in the bank!

GreenOval - sounds like you have forgotten that the system is also controlled by the ambient temperature, so even if set won't work in "warm" weather! And as for the "excuse" of it being a brand new car, just remember that those of us who are actually owners of a Disco3 have spent good money (& it is priced as a premium car) on the vehicle and are therefore entitled to a corresponding standard.
The issue of what has been "advertised" , as has already been pointed out is irrelevant - none of the advertising gies anything remotely like a full detailed spec and most of us actual owners bought the car based on a rudimentary spec sheet. What is relevant is our entitlement to have the vehicle "as delivered and accepted" by us (which is what determines the contracted specification) in a functioning order. Unfortunately that is not the case.

Most interesting that their view on what the effectively contracted specification is, coincides with what I and others have been posting on the site Very Happy . LR/Ford may currently hope that they can just ignore the laws of the land, but they are shortly going to be brought down to earth with a bump if the continue as they are Wink Perhaps if the form Trading Standards send you is fairly generic, we could have it completed & Martin post it on the site for download by the rest of us affected for sending in as well.

Questions for 'green oval' Why does the pre-heater work on a Range Rover and not on the D3, because it appears to be the same to me apart from the D3 is the latest built by Webasto. Second question, just what is your job as the guys on the site are genuine guys who want to know the answers and have their cars working correctly according to the spec, ads and data. You appear to be a little evasive and yet you call yourself the 'Green Oval' which clearly places you with LR in my books. Confused If you are LR, then great we are not bothered with your name, if you are not, so what.

BN - well said!! Very Happy While we all want a free discussion on the forum, the past postings by Green Oval have had factual inaccuracies, and quite frankly unless he wants to disclose & enable us to verify his identity & occupation/any connection with LR, I for one think that his postings are quite frankly irrelevant to our discussions. Wink
