Is the wire the right one? Have looked everywhere but can only find the splice with one wire from the front, one from under seat and the other coming out the other end towards the back,. All the same green / white wire. Mines also a 2007 and it seems to be in the right place help!!!

Darren, mine was like that so I resoldered the splice and it made no difference. It turned out to be the fob. I put a bit of card under the battery and it worked fine for a while then packed up again. Eventually I had a new battery professionally fitted (for about £40) and it's been spot on ever since.

Thanks for the reply, I may just leave it alone then as it looks quite tidy. I seem to have the problem of....the car will always unlock fine, but never self locks when you drive off and the lock button on the dash does nothing, but unlock works. When I use the fob (either) it sounds like it locks with a faint click and the indicators flash but none of the doors lock apart from the boot. I have to go around and open each door and manually lock each door. If I then push lock again it unlocks it all! Very frustrating lol! I'm really lost on where to start locking as I think the fob is working fine or is it?, could it be all the locks have gone? Or is there a master lock which has gone and is throwing the others out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Went to have another go at it today and sprayed loads of waxoil lubricant on all the door locks and left for couple of hours and suddenly they are all working!? Coincidence? Not a clue but just waiting for them start playing around again. Enjoy it while it last lol

Thanks Greedy !! You are a life saver !!!!

Job done I hope so thought I would post the following in case it helps others.

You will find the green and white splice about 1" - 2" behind where the smaller loom slits off and dissapears under the passenger seat
It is buried in the main loom and this can take a while to find.

3 green and white wires in one end of spllce (none coming out other side) as shown in my pics

Cut off black splice connector

Strip wires back and solder them together

Cover in heat shrink

Then what I did as you will see in pics, I cut two fingers of a rubber glove and pushed new soldered and heat shrinked end inside and taped it up. That way its more protected from damp and easier to find if you ever had to do it again.
Place back into the loom this time on the outside and cable tie everything together again.

Took me half an hour once I had found the splice.

Central locking now works again.

Hopefully the pics I took follow on from this description and they will help someone else having what seems to be this very common fault.

Thanks to all who guided me when I got lost and confused

Regards

Clive

ps sorry about the quality of the pics

Thanks for all the great advice on this site. Just finished this repair and central locking works again. I now need to find the water leak. I will try all the options mentioned on the site.
Thanks again....much appreciated

This was indeed a superb solution !!!

With regards to your water leak, if your roof liner isn't wet, the leak is most likely behind the fusebox. It takes a fair bit of fiddling to get the glove compartment out (you can push the bottom pins to the inside to remove the whole box) and the fuse box, just be careful and don't forget the 2 connections at the back.

Yep that was what was wrong with mine. Took Near Side trims off found the 3 green wires they are well back towards the "B" pillar about three quarters back from the "A" pillar I cut off the black end and re soldered them back together. Working fine now. I also found carpet wet so replaced clips on "A" pillar trims with modification clips DHB500400 these cost about £17.00 from the stealers but you can get them off EBay for 6 quid Hope this has stopped water ingress Very Happy

Finding the splice

I have a 2008 car and can't find the splice. I have opened the loom right through the length and nothing. I found 4 twisted pairs and one single in green and white but all go past the seat and under the carpet to the rear of the seat. Any ides?

You should be able to find it approximately in the middle of the pasenger-seat, no need to go all the way to the rear. See the pictures above.
