How mutch juice does this unit require to operate when connected to the pc? the usb port as we know is limited to 500mah, Perhaps some of you use a unpowered usb hub or the power to the usb port on the pc is shared between 2 ports and one is in use, like chargin a phone or a usb stick is drawing most of the power to the usb ports and therby not enough juice for the tool?

I'm thinking of buying an IIDtool with BT but have what's probably a very silly question...

Do I need to have the car plugged into a mains source or battery charger to change or re-flash vehicle settings? (I presume the engine can't be running). Could I simply plug in my fully charged PowerRing Power Pack if no mains was available?

crews, if the battery is in good charge, then this wont be a problem. I've flashed many CCF settings in car parks and fields without power. Have also done some with an additional battery connected and some with jump leads connected. although they're usually for the longer module ECU updates.

if just making a few CCF changes, then you will be fine with a normally charged battery.

if fe-flashing ECU's then mostly I would be connected to additional power Thumbs Up

Other than SNOTM & BT updates, I have never used a battery charger with the IID, on D3, D4, FFRR or RRS Thumbs Up

tell her there's some critical updates coming out from LR and you can either pay three hours at LR or get one of your own. The updates must be around power management and widget memory controls to bring it up to the 2014 spec or some rubbish along those lines.... she'll have switched off by the time you get to the three hours at LR bit.......
