heating system issue

Does anyone else find the heating system crap. I have a 2010 HSE and find that I have to have the heating wound up to 28 to get it remotely warm, only after about an hour do I have to turn it down I find my bmw is too warm with 23 after about ten minutes.

Do I have a problem with mine?

PS I've had the car around 16 months and always found this to be the case

Doesn't sound right to me tbh. I've had a couple of D4s now and the heater has always been superb! Do you have a warranty on the car still? I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly with an answer Thumbs Up

I do have an extended warranty so next time I am planning on heading to the mainland and near the dealer I will get them to check it out

Still interested in any other opinions and experiences though

There is nothing wrong with the heater in as much as it does heat up the car very well and quickly. What I find is that to get a comfortable target temp, I have to have the system set to 23 degrees.

Sometimes, I turn it down to 20 at the start of the journey, but will creep it up to 23 as things warm up. Failure to do this results in the system blasting hot air at me in an attempt to heat it up too quickly for my comfort.

Mines the same 60 plate set to 28 degrees its a good half hour before I have to turn it down and probably 10 minutes before it starts to fully clear the windscreen. Interested in what results you get on here.

D4 is definately different to D3 - on D3 20 C was comfy temp setting, to feel the same in the D4 needs to be set at 23 or 24 C.

I agree. Only had D4 for a few months ('62 MY12 XS) Compared to old D3, need to have temp set to 23 or 24 to feel warm at the moment. Sometimes feel a cold draught across the top of legs. If I use the 'mega boost' button for longer it seems to help, but overall I've been thinking it's not quite right.

Auto and 19 for me. Wife sets 20 when she has it.

No complaints and the system works as advertised.

Ditto (MY2010). I basically leave it on 20 all the time and it gets to that pretty quickly - especially when the fbh kicks in.

heater

My previous D4 on a '59 plate was great, as were my two previous D3's

My current D4 (my13) needs to be left on a constant 24C, as its too cold below this. I even now wear a jumper or coat in the car.

On a long run 3-5 hours, the A/c seems to fight against the heater with occasional bouts of too cold, then too hot, after which it settles.

Takes a while to warm up the interior without using the timed climate, even as the heater blasts away

I had it checked at the first service and they said thats normal ?? and could find no fault!

thinking of installing an oil filled rad for when it gets really cold
