I can say definately and categorically that it is a split tailgate.
(I actually haven't a clue either way, but I thought I would add my wild speculation for the purposes of adding balance )An ex-Disco3 / FFRR owner ......

Have to say that looks lovely ! 8)

Black pack and that grill really makes it look good and less jelly like than the others. A disco needs a manly look about it and that is showing signs there. Sliders and a rear ladder will add to it, spots won't on the front they need to make a really cool OEM LED light bar like the RRS in Spectre 8)

Im currently taking it for granted that each variant will see a minimum £5k increase for the bigger engine variant, might be less for the 2.0L but then you've got to add an extortionate amount on for basic extras like black pack, tow pack and some of the new Tech offerings so might as well round it up to a £10k increase.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Strange the the one that looks high spec has a little 2.0 diesel. Any chance it could be a hydrid? Dont think any of the test mules have had the updated 3.0 sdv6 so i hope its not only the 2.0d! there is an option of a hybrid on the top spec RRS so maybe a possibility for the top disco???
Cheers... so in the next 4 weeks, we will see it and know it all. Excited!2007 XS, Leather Auto - Stornoway Grey

As I have been saying for a long time, its definitely a one piece tailgate with the slide out platform, as shown here. (which was released over two years ago).
The D5 will look exactly like the New York motor show concept without the suicide doors.
While we have been trying to guess what it looks like we have been staring at it all along.
I think you're right - it was all there, the offset moulding round the number plate...

So the 64,000 dollar question is whether you can run a jetboil and a cartridge cooker on that activity platform? In that respect, the biggest problem seems to be its NOT flat Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Options will be a killer, though to be fair I'm happy with the kit on my SE, all I added was xenons and privacy glass and latterly 20" alloys, so if it had a similar spec or perhaps a bit more I would be happy with a bog standard one. I would try the 2.0ltr but don't really want to pay 3.0ltr money.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Im really hoping for a bit more power, Im pretty much constantly fully loaded with an almost permanent roof box and some kind of trailer being towed at least 3 times a week. Would definitely consider the hybrid 2.0l but if its just a 2.0l four pot then i would have reservations, I also use low range often to get me across field with a water bowser. I expect the 2.0l may not offer such things as a low box, or maybe none of them will and that will be be a £1.5k option MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
