Well that's it. We have heard it all in this thread now.
Cheaper, more expensive. More powerful engines, same engines, smaller engines, more practical, less practical, more premium, less premium.
So basically, no ones knows
Maybe it will be all things to all men. Like a disco should be

I can certainly see potential buyers looking more closely at say RRS2 or used FFRR if the D5 isn't as rugged and practical as the D4.
I think the XC90 looks a nice bit of kit, so maybe buyers will shop around more that default to a disco, for a premium practical 4x4.
I've looked at the RRS2, wasn't a fan of the first one but this one is a different animal, and came to the conclusion that I can't afford it.
Asked about the 2.0 one and my salesman said forget it, the used values are woefully low.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

If that's the new 2.0 RRS, I wonder how he'd know about their resale when they aren't due to go on sale until 1st qtr. 2017

The 2.0 RRS2 has coil suspension and only a high range transfer box. A replacement for a D4 it is not. Hell, it's not even a replacement for my old RRS1... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I never said it was a replacement for a D4, I don't use my D4 to its full potential and I enjoy driving so have looked into the RRS2. I'm aware that the 2.0 is an over grown Evoque.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

If LR are considering a 2.0 litre coiler with no low range Disco.... you'd certainly want it to be significantly cheaper than a D4... but if it was, that would only make the DS look very expensive?
After seeing a D5 on the road, and endlessly discussing them on here, I find myself hoping they get the new Defender right, because that may be the only way I can stay with LR when I need to change in a few years time.2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

I wasn't aware of this. To my surprise, to buy a RRS without the essential air suspension (I use mine every time I use the D4 and wouldn't have bought it without it!), the low range box (I use that too...) and with only 2/3's of an engine, only saves £3,400.00. That's only around 6%!!
To buy an unproven, 240PS 2 litre diesel is brave indeed. I imagine that this will apply to the D5 as well.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

If I was able to get into one it would be the 3.0 HSE and add the £600 off road pack (TR2 & low range), though I don't use it a lot it's handy to have.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

My guess is that the 2.0 RRS is only in the range to allow LR to say the RRS starts from less than £60k. When RRS2 first arrived it was available in SE trim which had high range only and missed a few other things. It was "cheap" but it didn't last.
I think it's just marketing around perceived price points - a bit like things being sold for £9.99 rather £10.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Think it is probably more to do with emission targets set by goverment, the more models they can sell with 2wd smaller engines etc etc helps to reduce their overall average which is what is measured by the gov. Its why Aston Martin do the ridicules makeover on the Toyota IQ.
Landrover has reduced the co2 emissions on the D4 for the past 5 yrs every yr, sometimes by only a very small margin but this must be driven by the gov directives.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Yup it was 'cheap' around 52 K slightly down on bhp no arm rests or electric seats no front fogs but a bloody good car
I ran one for a year and lost only 6 K
It had been on order for ever put back a lot
They pulled we very early as they we selling all the RRS they could make so why not make 8 k more with HSE modelIllegitimi Non Carborundum

........ but only a link to the current model(s) I registered for a brochure of the "All New Discovery" and have just had an email "Here is Your Land Rover E Brochure". Of course it's the current model. Waste of time registering methinks.Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
