Just a muddled up Evoque really.
The car I'm waiting to see is the replacement for our one, the Full Fat Disco.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

That is as gay as can be, LR have officially LOST THE PLOT and FORGOTTEN its ROOTS.
RIP Land Rover, the lunatics have taken over the asylum, we are all officially being turned into pampered ponces WHY NOT leave the Sport for the ponces, the Evoques for dwarf hairdressers and keep the Discovery a lean mean functional manly machine?

It won't actually be that Gay ? That's just the concept, like the concept RRS that's at the heritage centre, although it was the pre cursor to the RRS and it shares a resemblance the interior and a few other bits were dumbed down !
I'd be surprised if the actual road going version has suicide doors and no B Pillar ?
I doubt it will have that Glitzy roof lighting set up either, I think when it's released there will be some change ?
I saw one stickered up in Hampstead the other day !
Its shape was surprisingly like a RRS !

Interesting comments from McGovern
Quote:
McGovern was fairly tight-lipped about the specifics of the upcoming Defenders, but he did say, “I’d be worried if lots of traditional Discovery owners looked at [the Discovery Vision concept] and said, “I love it!†Because it has moved on. It’ll be Defender, the new Defenders—and I wouldn’t take note of those concept vehicles we did a couple of years ago—that’ll show you that sense of overt ruggedness.â€
He was mum on the topic of platforms, although given the reality of modern economies of scale, we can’t imagine Land Rover having more than two of them—a small-vehicle architecture for the Discovery-branded Freelander/LR2 replacement and Evoque and a larger one for the bigger Discos and Range Rovers.
“The Defender pillar, it needs to be said to help put it in context, will be more about durability; about ruggedness. We want to make Defender very affordable. You’ll get versions that are very elemental in terms of what’s inside them, but you’ll have the ability to move it up and make it more premium, but it’ll be durable premium.†While the LR4 seemed to take the Discovery rather close to the previous Range Rover in terms of interior niceties, we’d expect a new uplevel Defender to fill that niche, but with less in the way of wilderness-drawing-room panache.
Great post. The elephant in the room seems to be that in the future there will probably only really be two cars - big platform 3L diesel and small platform 2L(ish) diesel.
Out of that LR needs to somehow create three familes - Defender, Disco and RR. Each with possibly three members - full fat, sport and baby. With not much more than body shape, badging and trinketry to distinguish them. Oh, and pricing of course.
A lot of smoke and mirrors coming up?

The new Discovery
Might be a bit late to the party here but has anyone also seen on LR home page after selecting which country you want that the first pic is of the Discovery concept car and they are calling it a Discovery sport??
Maybe they will still bring out a proper designed Discovery that we are all hankering after and not just a half hearted chelsea tractor.2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)
