2.0 Petrol
Tailgate looks a much better idea than that of the concept
eventual vehicles will be:
current Freelander is a CAR....just above a "crossover"
it doesn't have low ratio gearbox or the massive wheel travel of the Disco....which limits it a bit off road
&
It doesnt have air suspension
it also uses a Haldex device instead of the transfer box & a middle diff it dose work sort of in a similar way...but isn't the same in the rough stuff
Will the Discovery Sport follow this line ? ...smaller vehicle with the look & the name but missing fundamental features of Discos...that differentiates them above FL2's & most other 4x4's from other makers
Will the 2016 FF Disco replacement have the same wheel travel, low ratio & air suspension ?
I realise there will be a train of posts after this one from this who say "I dont need that" or "I will never use it" which to me is a load of - if they want something simpler (which means cheaper)...or they want a look alike - go buy a Nissan or whatever.
What I would hope is: Land Rover Learn lessons - & design, make & build a vehicle that hasn't got prone rubber bushings that owners have to replace at ridiculously low milages......
Land Rover Learn lessons - - build Discos with brake pipes that dont corrode & cause vehicle to fail MOT's - it would cost a few pounds more t fit Cu-Ni-Fer or copper ones that last the life of the car.....Ditto air conditioning pipes
Land Rover Learn lessons -...& underseal the new Disco...another few quid would prevent corrosion that is total preventable...another few quid
Land Rover Learn lessons -...& fit windscreen wipers that actually work without clickety clack noises...meaning that owners have to fund the research to get quiet ones
Land Rover Learn lessons-...design, make & fit anything that has been a prone item on previous vehicles
I couldn't give a po oh whether it looks sexy or more streamlined....
please dont value engineer the vehicle to be something low cost
METAL door handles & a real CLOCK...put the Navigation on an SD card so it can be accessed by those who arent deformed.BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
