According to Clinton Waldeck, product specialist sales and brand ambassador for Jaguar Land Rover Stellenbosch, the heavily-camouflaged Land Rover arrived from Jaguar Land Rover Global in the United Kingdom a few days ago for various terrain and mechanical testing.
Waldeck was reluctant to reveal the details of the testing that was done on the prototype Discovery 5. “It’s still very hush-hush. All I can say is that they’ve brought them into our workshop for various diagnostic tests. They test these cars like they do with any other new vehicles: How does it cope with our conditions or how does it perform on our gravel roads?”
Could Waldeck get a closer look at the interior at least? “As I mentioned, it’s very top secret. The staff here aren’t even allowed a sneak peek of the interior. Because it’s still very much concept-based, they cover everything up inside,” Waldeck says.
He believes that this prototype will still see many changes and modifications before the final draft is revealed. “It’s still very much in the testing phase to find out what tweaks and adjustments are yet to be made. I think we’ll see many more changes to the Disco 5 before the final model is launched.”
Clinton says that beneath the camouflage, the Discovery adopted a similar front-end to the new Discovery Sport, and is manufactured mostly out of aluminium. A\

Still quite positive about these pictures coming out but the more I look at the back it looks way to close to the system in this clip with the "Activity Platform" and deployable "Event Platform" rather than split tailgate which is no good when you've got dogs chomping at the bit to get out

That rear overhang is HUGE! given the obvious disparity between approach and departure angles you have to hope that's part of the mock-up/disguise.

Not much less overhang in the DV, which I've got a feeling is exactly what we'll get. Lot of the DV structure in that cammo'ed rear end. Hide you're top secret new car in plain sight.
Also makes for a good disguise for something else though. Make something look like the something people have seen and it distorts their perception. We can't help but look at that and see the DV. Might be a bluff or a double bluff, or not intended as a bluff at all. Its a double double bluff!
The rear doors look huge to me which could be a bit of an issue in tight spaces, looks like the suicide door arrangements disappeared. It would be great if they pulled something else out the bag like sliding rear doors that would make it much more practical.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
