Stick with the classics and importantly make sure you get one which is the right size for your wrist.
I bought myself a Rolex Submariner without date for my 30th. I rarely wear it and I don't regret it. I enjoy wearing it when the occasion permits.
Like others here have said, at that budget second hand may be best and you'll get a lovely watch which will always be worth pretty much the same, if you look after it and it's not a new 'gimmicky' or 'fashion branded' watch.

I must be going up in the world as the dealer I bought my Rolex Deepsea D-Blue from has targeted me as possibly interested in buying a Patek Philippe watch.......
Given the cheapest one I remotely like is £20k, I think not......
He is pointing me in the direction of the 'Grand Complications' range, the cheapest of which is £61,730....

I like watches, but find it ironic that the higher their value seems to equate with keeping poor time.
My cheap as chips Citizen barely loses a second a year. My Rolex, Omega and Tudor lose minutes per day. 😆 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Indicates it needs a service to me as COSC accuracy parameters is to within -4 to +6 seconds of variation per day (around 99.995% accuracy.....)

You’re right, although they never keep good time for that long afterwards. I’ve used various services inc. “main dealer”.
I’m not bothered anyway, I have an accurate clock on my iPhone. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I do find it funny that an expensive watch can't keep good time and needs a service, no doubt at a significant sum, where a cheaper alternative needs only a new battery every couple of years and also keeps excellent time.
I mean, a watch's primary (sole?) function is to provide an accurate time reference. If a watch can't even do that, what is the point of it? And why pay a small fortune for such an item?
Although, thinking further on it, as these expensive watches often seem to live in boxes, on winding machines, etc., maybe the fact that they aren't accurate isn't very important.

And a Dacia does the same job as a Land Rover but some prefer one over the other.

we cover this ground every time a 'watch thread' comes up. You seem to either be 'for' (you've bought one or more....) or against (you have a Casio and/or can't afford them or 'have more sense' )

Nope. It won't tow anywhere near what the bigger Land Rover products will. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Or you just don't "get" the watch thing. I don't get the shoe/trainer thing either - some people have dozens of pairs of trainers and just have them in boxes, never worn.
Some people buy Defenders and won't drive them in anything other than perfectly dry weather. I know someone like this and I do take the pee out of him (along with others who also think it's a weird thing). He takes the pee out of me for other stuff. All good fun. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
