These look quite tasty but I am not sure if the movement is British (or just disgned by them) their blurb is a bit vague in this

According to their brochure - "designed, manufactured and assembled in England"
Odd that they chose a French sounding name though?

They are nice watches with more than a hint of IWC for me. Looked at a single plain dial GMT with stainless case on leather strap around £2.5k
I believe, as with Graham, their movements are Swiss (probably a necessary requirement in the watch world?)

As I understand it from some of their sales brochure materials as well - they assemble in Henley-upon-Thames but movements are still swiss sourced

I've just checked Graham and you're quite correct. In common with several high-end manufacturers they use Valjoux 7750 movements, but theirs are modified to a British design.
As fas I can determine only Glashutte and Lange & Sohne make their own movements at present. As has already been said, the iconic Rolex Daytona famously used a Zenith movement and I'm certain plenty of other makers collaborate too.
My own preference has always been for Omega. If it was good enough for James Bond (from Dr No to Skyfall) and the Apollo Astronauts, I think it'll do for me.

Bremont was founded by two brothers who are English. And I believe parts of the monements are made from actual World War II airplane parts. This would need clarification though. They do make some nice pieces however.

A good magazine to subscribe to is QP. Think its quarterly. Stopped getting a while back when my subscription ran out and never got round to renewing.

After I started this thread http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic102411.html?highlight=Omega I was recommended a guy in Glasgow http://www.martinswatchrepairs.co.uk
I checked up with a friend in the business and he also have him a glowing recommendation......so I sent off my Speedmaster for a service.
It was a fraction of the cost that Omega (actually owned by Swatch nowadays ) quoted me....it came back immaculate, with 2 new complimentary pushers and a new crown.....thoroughly impressed "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I have a really old Omega Pocket watch somewhere in a tub in the garage with assorted bits and bobs.
I checked it once as it had no markings on the face but the serial number confirmed it as an Omega. Made before they put any names on the watches.
It's also really small, about the same size as a wrist watch so assume it's a ladies pocket watch.
Always assumed it was worthless and forgot about it, might have to dig it out and have a look.

Quite right Comanche, but aparently he did wear an Omega Seamaster De Ville in From Russia with Love and of course has worn an Omega in all the films from Goldeneye onwards...
I seem to be having a dyslexic typing day today!

Good info I have a Maurice Lacroix and a Breitling needing a service. I'll go in this weekend.
And they're just up the road from Taggarts Land Rover, so I'll have a wee look in

It will be just a look - just paid for 3rd service, MOT and extended warranty.
Had already been in looking at the 275bhp Sportbrake Jag estate. Weird shaped boot meant the German Shepherd wouldn't be comfortable
Also noticed they seem to have went from a few D4s between their franchises to about 30 in the space of a few weeks - so wouldn't have much bargaining power.
Probably end up with a new watch though
