I'm no marketing expert but getting yourself in the national news and going viral on the web looking like an absolute tool is not a positive image of your business.
I also cycle thousands of miles a year and find 99.99% motorists are OK, as are 99.99% cyclists - its when the 0.01% of each group meet then the fun starts

Judging by some of the comments,I wonder if Mr Wells has just had his own personal "Gerald Ratner" moment ?"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

His facebook page is worse - hundreds of negative reviews, some are funny "the cyclist sandwich is to die for" but how do you come back from this? Ratner indeed!

He deserves more than lost business, the cyclist never helped the situation either, but sadly happens far to often.

The guy is a complete tool, and has some serious anger management issues, but immediately the press and lots of individuals start putting people in tribes; "cyclists" "motorists" "4x4 drivers" and immediately all the stereotypes are applied. We are all just people, either on bikes, in cars, driving buses etc, and there are in all walks of life. This is not cyclist v 4x4 this a fruitloop plain and simple, and yes the person on the bike (see what I did there...) didn't help but was almost certainly freaked out by the close call. I own a 4x4, a few other cars about 120 bikes (ok a bike shop) and sometimes I walk... Sometimes I'm in a good mood, sometimes not but whatever mode of transport I'm using I'm still a person. So please can we stop stoking the narrow minded press mentality of "motorist" v "pedestrian" v cyclist? Please??

Mad max and George Galloways love child in the disco was a complete rocket but there are always 2 sides to every coin and these helmet camera bell tips cut their footage to suit. I don't believe that nothing happened prior to him going so mental.
In my experience the decent cyclists don't bat an eyelid and are fine but those with cameras go out their way to look for trouble. There is a guy up here on youtube who deliberately riles people up to get a reaction. His footage also never shows the full story.3 Flash Indicators

Depending on the markings on the cycle lane, the driver may have a point about the rider not being allowed there.
I wasn't aware that there was such a thing as a road (by which I mean a public highway) that cyclists weren't allowed on?
There are only a few. They're called motorways.
Latest road-death figures for Scotland (2014): 80 in cars, 54 on foot, 29 on motorbikes, 9 in lorries/taxis/buses/tractors and 7 on bicycles. I'd like to think this means the message about giving cyclists more room is getting through, up here. Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.
To be extremely pedantic, Motorways are "Special Roads" and do not constitute a public right of way as such.
Now, footpaths come under the Highways Act 1980, and are a public right of way, so I suppose these would count.
Perhaps, if I were a lawyer, I should have to use the term "All-Purpose Road" instead. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC
