BATTERY ADVICE PLEASE
Hi everyone... Been getting a few "Battery Low" warnings on our Disco4 although it's never actually not started (yet) Think maybe it's time to treat her to a new battery.
Hearing good reports on Yuasa 12V Silver Car Battery HSB019 - 5 Yr Guarantee
Any thoughts guys ?

You need a good AGM battery for a D4.
I'm presuming you have tried giving the battery a good conditioning charge?

ok thanks for that.. When fitting the battery do you need diagnostics to tell the vehicle it's had a new battery or not? as i know this is the case on some vehicles

Yes, the battery monitoring system has to be reset via a suitable diagnostic tool. I do this for free but you are a bit far away!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I never did but I'm sure I'll be corrected.

Was there not a software update for My2012's because the battery monitoring system was too sensitive and giving the warnings all the time. I'm pretty sure mine had an update to cure this.Cheers Ian

Personally I would not touch the Yuasa battery with a very long barge pole! I fitted a 900ah Silver 5000 about this time last year, the first one failed within 3 months and was replaced under warranty, the second was struggling to start my Discovery 3 only 2 months later and was tested by the supplier and showed approximately 700ah capacity. The supplier,Halfrauds, said that was within Yuasa's tolerances and refused to replace it!

Yes there was a succession of updates pre-MY13 to get the BMS right, plus the installation of an AGM for those early D4s not fitted with them. Of course, the customer had to raise a concern to get the work done under warranty.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
