That drill is a godsend. I actually bought it to repair the thread on a 300tdi disco that had snapped its rocker shaft by stripping the thread on the windscreen end bolt. It’s a fantastic tool.

I’ll probably do that but I think it’s almost rubbed through so I may need to repair it first. Thumbs Up

Indeed some fantastic bits of kit out now Thumbs Up

Wonder how many extra tools u will end up with once all completed Whistle

Does seem it’s when the handbrake cable is applied in how it then touches that air pipe

PS, maybe I should pitch my tent up near ur workshop and quickly do work using ur post lift when ur not looking Rolling with laughter

Laughing knowing me I probably will. I want a bush kit like you have on the upper arm thread. Me and my father have been in engineering all our working lives plus other trades and always been car people so we have a broad range of kit. Plus I’ve had discoveries since I was 18 so..... Laughing

You’ve got a fantastic head start then Thumbs Up

My pops who is nearly 90 was also in the trade , ive had to send him pictures and progress report of my recent work, knowing him I better get a chair for him as he will be wanting to watch what I’m doing Whistle

Never forget he always told me of an old engine that didn’t have cyl heads , pistons I think go towards one another , ah those were the days he says , repairing gearboxes and engines by the roadside Rolling with laughter

Don’t know if I did but here’s a link ref that puller kit

Laughing my dad always tells me stories of roadside repairs he’s done and capers he’s had. He’s 65 now so I’m quite lucky he’s still active and still helps me a lot.

Thanks for the link. Kit ordered. So you were right I am buying more tools. Laughing Thumbs Up

Indeed , but with my pops getting into his older years can’t help anymore , he still drives and very active

Remember as kids we had an old ford consul, dad took the gearbox apart when we was on holiday in the caravan

Mum said I’ll bring u back some fish and chips as we walked off the caravan site Laughing

Is so nice having the wonderful moments working on a motor with ur dad , god knows he helped me in the past with other landies and motorbikes

See, you’ve fallen into the trap already of buying more tools Whistle

Haha yeah your right. I’ve got so many memories working on cars and projects with him. Welding up rusty cars, him teaching me how to re do the bodywork of my first car when I crashed it. (I actually still have that mk2 Astra van ! Lol)

I can’t resist good tools. I’m drooling over those induction tools now. How to get one without swmbo noticing.... Whistle

Probably just do the upper rears and upper fronts with the body off for now. My parts list is getting emormous and expensive. Laughing

Didn’t see the steering column ref. I always thought it was the rack so gave it a shake with the car up in the air and saw that it’s the column shaking not the rack. Thumbs Up

I dread to think what the cost would be if I put it into the stealers to do all the work I want done. Does anyone know if someone like Bristol transmissions can or do check a gearbox and torque converter if I take them off and take them down to them ?
