Fisherman you are correct but you need the 2 fakra cables to be able to convert to phono plugs for the breakout box connection in the rear roof space, and does not need to be connected anywhere else, if the caravan camera is powered all the time then it can be viewed as a rear view mirror would even when in forward gear via the normal screen menu.

The Facra cable would not be needed unless a separate power feed was used to use the camera any time, although it then would not work as a Rev camera as the car camera has priority when Rev is selected.
A video cable could be run from the new change over switch inside the car to the tow bar sockets and fitted with a socket to allow the new camera cable to be plugged in.
The tow electrics must be enabled in the CCF for this to work.

What's causing a little confusion is I'm working on D3 wiring, but I am sure it can be done on both models.
D3 camera has phono plugs and a gvif.
When reverse is selected on a D3 with a trailer electrics plunged in the car Rev lights don't come on only the trailer lights, so the input feed for the new cameras only needs to go to the trailer Rev socket on the car, not to the trailer Rev light.
Question is how would the changeover switch react to haveing no power from the car Rev lights?

just to clarify my set up is on single reverse canera not surround system, also if the breakout box recieves no voltage it connects the default video which should be connected to the car camera

So my ideas have sort of fallen into place with Tintenters insofar as now I'm thinking switch on dash and wireless camera. I found a wireless setup on the bay of e (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-4G-Wireless-Video-Transmitter-Receiver-Module-for-Car-Rear-View-Backup-Camera-/400991767354?hash=item5d5cf8cb3a:g:mfoAAOSwLqFV7pii) which seems to be the right thing but I'm struggling with a camera which won't make the back of my van look nasty. I was thinking of a number plate cam but I find most are CMOS. I'd heard that CCD were better. I don't know if I need PAL or NTSC or if it even matters. Trailer vision do one which other caravanners I know have but it costs £140 which sounds way over the odds to me. Hids4U do one at £81 for a CCD version but they seem to be all over the web for much less (CMOS usually but CCD too). I wanted one that could swivel up and down so it could be on all the time as a rear view and not just looking at the floor. Any suggestions or experiences welcomed.
Very Happy

I like that!
I've been looking for something that's CCD and looks half decent and this ones spot on. I'll need to run it past my finance Director as she has the final word on if I live or die and Roberts your Mum's brother.
Do you run yours wirelessly or wired. I looked at the American kit in my last post but fear it may be just too cheap to be any good. It runs on 2.4Ghz which is the same as just about everything else in the world and was concerned there may be loads of interference.

Having spoken to Vanmaster owners over the past week I'm going hardwired. I have sourced some BNC to RCA cables as well as a BNC male to male chassis mount to connect them together at the bumper. My concern is there is an option of 50 or 75 ohm connectors and I don't really understand what I need. Anyone out there know about this stuff?

If you pick the power supply up from the rear lights as apposed to reversing light you can have the camera on at any time, not just when reversing Thumbs Up
