Suspicions confirmed: this compressor is U.S.
Finally connected to external power supply, and no output… not even a hum!
On reflection, the signs were all there:
1) plastic pipe impossible to release from brass collar, eventually having to be cut.
2) strong smell of electrical burning when I took compressor apart.
3) cut end of plastic pipe 'welded' within outlet (probably melted at some point)
If anyone else is reading this having experienced the same symptoms, before you do anything else, before you spend any money on service parts, connect it up to a power supply and check the compressor for an output!

What was used to read the codes?
Lynx only gives the first 5 characters not the full 7 Character code.

BHH last Wednesday Mikey came down from Dundee to lower largo where I was on holiday. Confirmed that the compressor on my D3 (2007) was goosed. He fitted a new AMK and updated the software in around 40 minutes. Cost was about half of what you seem to have paid just for the compressor. Replacing the unit according to this topic seems to be giving a lot of people some grief. He is a top guy to know.

John, nice one - Mikey is a good contact, wish he could come over here!! BTW in fairness £170 of my bill was a wiring fault linked to my Compressor

Have just fitted a Dunlop (Hitachi replacement) compressor supplied by AF. Excellent service, they told me it would be a Tuesday delivery but it arrived on Monday.
I didn't go for the AMK unit for two reasons 1) price and 2) I only do apprx. 9,000 miles per annum.
However I've just seen an ad on Ebay for an AMK for 400 and something odd pounds.
Sods law, eh?
