Amber suspension light - reassurance please!!
Just had a call from the wife saying that the amber suspension light has come on with a 'suspension fault' message in the message centre.
There's little I can do about it from work right now, but I just wanted some reassurance that it's ok to be driven until I get home and investigate further?
Asked wife to look in the manual, but there's not a chance that'll happen!!!
Thanks

Will be fine, mine's been like that for a few hundred miles now. Amber lights = worry about the cost.

Ok thanks! Have you had the codes read? Any idea what'll fix it?

It could be any number of things. Quite often turning the ignition off, count to ten and restart the engine will clear it (mine does it occasionally when lowering it to get into the car park, but then I know the air drier needs doing so it doesn't vent quick enough and a fault code has confirmed it).

Mine's this. Looks like a new compressor as the one in it is over 9 years.

Maplecottage is kindly coming to read the fault codes tomorrow morning. It's sat right down at entry height today, compressor doesn't appear to be kicking in at all. I guess I'll start searching for a couple of vehicle ramps!!!

Mine came on and off for a while. New compressor fitted sorted it out.James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

Mines an '05… I'll prepare myself mentally for a replacement compressor.

I bought the latest version (think Hitachi) for circa £400 on ebay and then about £80 to fit.James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

Maplecottage (cambridgeshire's premier friendly LR guru!) has just been and helped me read some codes:
Suspension:
C1A26-16 (28) Temperature sensor circuit - General electrical failure - circuit voltage below threshold
( at 178440 km )
C1A27-12 (28) Compressor circuit - General electrical failure - circuit short to battery
( at 178440 km )
C1131-92 (2E) Air supply - Component failure - performance or incorrect operation
( at 178454 km )
C1A20-64 (6C) Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
( at 178454 km )
C1B21-1C (28) Unknown
( at 178440 km )
Does any of that look familiar to anyone?
The live gallery showed the compressor rise to 155kPa before dropping off to 92kPa, followed by the dreaded 'bong - suspension fault' message.
My plan is to whip the compressor off and service it on the kitchen table… unless anyone knows of a better plan??

Way, way beyond my DIY ability! I can't even get the wiper arm off, absolutely no chance of doing a compressor change.

Ordered a compressor servicing kit from eBay, complete with replacement drier cover. Will be here Tuesday. Fingers crossed its a simple fix!
