Air suspension fault any experts out there? |
|
I've recently refurbished my hitachi compressor and it's working fine now. Well it has for a month. The car is now telling me I have a fault with said suspension and if I egnor it the warning light goes red and then dumps the air out of the system. Turn the car off and then on and it pumps back up and runs ok until the fault comes back. Any ideas please ??

You need to get the codes read, could be a dozen different things. IID PRO

Your right. I've booked it into mid engineering in the morning. I guess they will tell me how much money I need to get out of the bank haha.

Did you change the silicone beads in the dryer? That could be effected by temp.
Pete. IID, webasto software and workshop facility's available.

I did a full service of the pump including a new aluminium end cap. . I've. Been to mid engineering Wantage. again they were fantastic. For whatever reason the fault has now not reoccurred. They cleared all the fault codes and tested the refurbished compressor. All checked out ok so,they said to run the motor about and as soon as another fault is displayed I'm to bring it back to them. They didn't charge me anything for this service so I would defiantly recommend them to anyone else. He could have easily charged me for something I didn't need. It's lovely to be able to go somewhere you can trust not to rip you off.

Sounds better than mine ... |

Hi all,
This is my first post but I have learned so much from the forum since I bought a brand new Discovery 3 in 2007.
However, I am at my wits end right now. She has been off the road for over a year now with one fault after another. I won't bore with the details, but it feels like most everything discussed in here has haunted me ...
I was getting all the warning lights - suspension down - and so on. Took it to the dealer (where I bought it) to read codes to be told the steering angle sensor needed replacement - €650. Independent (that I trust) would do it for €435 so I dropped it over - 15 minutes later, he came back to say he had re-calibrated it and all is OK (€50) no need to replace sensor. However, the suspension compressor is dead - need replacement - €840.
Got a compressor maintenance kit and tried to do a job on it, but sheared two bolts from the compressor cylinder head - so forked out €500 for new compressor. Fitted it (fairly straightforward with help form the forum) - should be a simple fit and no ECU reprogramming
However, I still have the "suspension fault" error about 20 seconds after starting the engine.
Can anyone offer any insight into this please? Do I need to get code read again - or ECU reprogrammed ?
Thanks
D

So I have my car back now. My faults was a broken wire in the loom on the front height sensor and the rear height sensor needed replacing. Fingers crossed now everything seems to be working well.

DR i would get the codes read first it could be a number of things does it drop after its been sitting for 2 or 3 days if so could be a leak somewhere if not then it could be the leveling valves leaking past inside also it could be a wiring issue or could be height sensors if i was you first i would pull the fuse and see if it sinks on any of the corners that would give you a good reference of where to look for a leak then get the soapy water out , after that i would be looking for an electrical issue tinted windows

Thanks Bear
Since changing the compressor, it has not worked at all - so I cannot even get to normal drive height.
If I short out the relay the compressor does run for about 20 second and then there is a fart somewhere and it stops
At that stage there is a hum somewhere close to the compressor - sounds a bit like a small electric motor ????
I guess I will take it to get codes read again - maybe its time to buy a Fault-mate ??
Thanks

has every thing been reset after fitting the compressor try taking off the battery lead and doing a hard reset failing that you would need to get it plugged in to do it tinted windows

also i would go shorting out the relay as you could end up doing more damage have you tried swapping the relay for the heated seat one to see if that makes a difference tinted windows
