When it originally went into the indie it 'just' had a suspension fault, there was then subsequent electrical issues, which they were able to resolve including a new ECU.
The EPB fault wasn't there prior to it going in, their view is that they don't know if it was there beforehand as they were unable to test drive it...
Any easy way of proving it or just my word against theirs?

Hi Dr Rob H,
The indie was Nick Kerner.
4.5 weeks, nigh on £2k and my Disco 3 comes out with an additional fault - just difficult to prove it wasn't there beforehand...

It will be going elsewhere!
NK's did ring me back following my rant to them, apparently the fault diagnostics details a problem with the EPB sensor for lateral movement.
Revised quote, includign a discount on the EPB module and only charging 6 rather than 7 hours to fit of £943!
Am I missing something?
Is there a workaround as I'm not keen to spend such money again due to a faulty sensor...?

Latest update re the intermittent handbrake (parking brake) fault.
I had been advised that I needed to replace the EPB module at a 'special' price of £943!
I took it for a 2nd opinion to Moores Automotive in Chertsey, Surrey, after having my Disco on the ramp and them exploring further they discovered that the current EPB was held in with cable ties as the original bolts had sheared off, they were subsequently drilled out and the original EPB re-fitted and recalibrated.
All now working satisfactorily and at a saving of £800!
What can I say, apart from a genuine garage, 2 brothers plus one other mechanic.
Please don't all go there as I won't be able to get mine booked in next time...

Rather horrified to read this and wonder if anybody else has had a hefty bill relating to sensor issues from Nick Kerner?
I've had a bill for over 7 hours of labour and a £300 part amounting to north of £1000. I was concerned as it didn't seem right and have since researched it. Land Rover issued a TSB against the specific sensor fault in 2013 stating a repair time of 0.4 of an hour. However this was not picked up by Nick Kerner as a Land Rover specialist for reasons unknown.
It is approaching three weeks since I have written to Nick Kerner to ask for an explanation but I have not yet had a response and so I am now considering escalation.
“Nk4WD guarantee the following with Maintenance, Servicing & Repairs:
• All work undertaken completed in accordance with Manufacturers specifications & schedules
• NK4WD use the latest diagnostic tools & equipment”.
Were this to the case; it appears my bill should have been in the tens of pounds rather than over a thousand had the published TSB been observed and followed.
Has anybody else had a similar experience?

Hi,
I'll be interested to know how you get on with Kerners.
I've since bought a Disco 4 and recently had to take it to Moores Autos at short notice when the rear brake pipes corroded and split and decided to dump their contents over the road....
Changed for a very reasonable £140 + VAT.
I know where mine goes now....

Thanks. I'll be only too happy to drive to Chertsey if this is the case! I'm not very tolerant of being ignored. It will be interesting to hear if others have had similar.
Google reviews are not encouraging - and I have haven't added my thoughts!

Thank you !!!!!!
I had the issue - no reverse lights / parking brake fault / and no gear selection on the dash until a few seconds in... followed the instructions below and BINGO I have no errors at all. That with another battery that's on order am loving the cost savings these forums provide thankyou
1) Find a long straight and quiet section of road.Neutral
2) Select LOW Ratio.Shocked
3) Reverse for about 200 yards or until you get the beep and the R on the dash gear number indicator. And then a tiny bit more for good luck. Stop, then...Neutral
4) Go forwards in 1st until number appears. Clutch pedal must be fully raised each time.Exclamation
5) Then up through the Gears waiting for each of the numbers to appear. Do not skip any gears!Mad
6) Stop at 6th, back into neutral, switch off engine.Confused
7) After a brief rest, I took a couple of minutes just to make sure all the bad ju ju was gone and to have a quick wee as it was just all too exciting.Whistle
Cool Restart and select High Ratio and you're on your way..Laughing Colin
