Personal choice, not a fan of leather. Hot in summer, cold , winter, can look awful when it gets older. Cloth with seat covers is cheaper, more flexible and looks better when you sell. . Not the majority view though.Tony

Us D3 weirdos must stick together. May be we could start a forum or a club for D3 owners? Tony

Cloth seats are alright if you don't do outdoorsy things, leather is easy to clean mud and blood from and wet coats don't stain it either.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

+1. I agree leather probably isn't so comfortable on the whole, but when it comes to mud and stains I wouldn't want to be without it. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Cloth seats can be pretty unhygienic too. My Mrs has a fair few allergies and one of them is dust & dust mite related. Try taking a cloth seat, that's been used for at least a year or two, then pound the seat squab a few times with something like the back of a wooden hand brush (do such things exist anymore?!); do it on a sunny day and watch the clouds of dust (mostly dead human skin - yuck!) rise into the air
Any dust simply wipes off leather and never gets into the foam of the seat 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

My current D4 has cloth seats but I have LR seat covers on, I was happy with the D5 S spec but can't get LED headlights or 3.0l so pushed the budget and gone for SE which has leather interior so won't need the seat covers.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Cloth seats with covers means you can take the covers off and wash them. Much like our Renault seats - they unzip and are washing machine proof to make removing chocolate, crisps etc from them very easy Genius.
However much you wipe the leather it will never be 100% clean. Reminds me of the Top Gear episode where they forensically examined some [leather] interiors for stains

Seeing as I don't go dogging in my car I'm not worried about being forensically clean and I very much doubt that your seat covers are either. I like leather you like plastic, I'm glad you're happy, I couldn't live with plastic myself but there you go. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Does one not get out the car for dogging? Not familiar with the rules
Still can't escape the fact I can put my covers in the washing machine to remove all those dodgy stains Which has been very useful over the years with kids and teenagers.Tony

As the resident expert in such things, DG will be along shortly to clarify the rules.
