Ok guys this is all getting a bit silly. This is a D5 section created to discuss the D5, if people don't like the D5, which is understandable, don't come into the D5 section as all hell breaks loose and useful information for those that are thinking about buying is then lost amongst the silliness.
I would happily use the D5 site but it's not as user friendly as this site, which I'm sure through time Martin will work on.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

This isn't an area where everybody must either like or dislike the D5 to be used solely for praise or criticism but somewhere to have discussions about it. It would be nice if we could actually do that, but it does seem that most criticism is met not with objective conversations but rather with "if you don't like it go elsewhere and get over it".
Please guys, if you like the D5, engage in a meaningful conversation with those of us who don't, or don't complain when we discuss amongst ourselves because you won't engage with the criticism.
This is not a "safe space" for either D5 or D4 fans to have one sided conversations free from the influence of opposing views. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

So if we don't like the D5, where should we discuss it ??? It's sounds like you think any criticism of the D5 can't be useful to perspective buyers. Surely, all discussion about the car adds to the ability to make an informed decision.

Meet me on the Erg Chebbi sand dunes in Morocco June next year with your D4 and we will see how your D4 compares with a D5.
Or perhaps Rockingham LRE Or a place of your choice
You obviously didn't read the context of the quote, cherry picking what you want?

Not cherry picking at all you said the D5 is 'just for show' my response was 'well lets find out'
I dont know if the D5 will be any good off road but I cant wait to find out. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
At some point I need to take the GoatRider to Morocco. But I think I'll remove the huge union flag and help for heroes logos first.....

But Al that's one of those terrible Freelanders isn't it? Not a real LR, but it does have a spare wheel on the back door I suppose. Can you drive it in rigger boots, camo trousers and a leather hat - that is the proper test of a LR.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Constructive criticism but at the moment it's just bickering, dimensions, loadspace, driver/passenger comfort, comparisons between the two, that's useful.

If someone thinks it is just for show then let them express their opinion, what harm does it do?
At the end of the day there is very little useful information to come out of an obviously obtuse thread title such as "D4 looks dated compared to what I've just ordered" or similar. There is no exclusive club here and if people wish to express such an opinion then expect a bit back

Now that's something I didn't know. Is it both engines? With the clamp don on 'dirty diesel' and the potential taxing of vehicles in towns and cities, this could be crucial. It's making the Volvo T8 twin engine look even more attractive.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

"Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) also known as AdBlue®, is a non-toxic, colourless, odourless and non-flammable fluid. Stored in a dedicated tank in your car, it is injected into the exhaust system to clean exhaust gases. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology is fitted to all Land Rover diesel vehicles from 2016 Model Year. It enables Land Rover to meet EU6 emissions legislation by reducing the levels of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emitted from the exhaust system by up to 90%. In addition to a new generation of catalytic converter, SCR Technology requires the use of DEF."Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

The new Disco should've really been introduced with the same twin engine set up as the Volvo, but then LR would probably charge a fortune.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
