Exactly the same…other sis is definitely the preferred daughter… house is full of photos of her family but very few of ours….
Funnily enough there is not one picture of me in any of the pictures…. Clearly the feelings must be mutual! Very Happy

Royal Mail are now playing the same game as My Herpes, received a text the is morning at 10:07 stating "your parcel has been delivered".... walks out to check.... no parcel, checks everywhere I can think of, still no parcel....

11:37 "your parcel has been delivered" check outside again... go on... have a guess what I found? NO PARCEL...

Checked on Amazon against both orders, they confirmed "your goods were delivered at 10:07 and 11:37"... given that I live in the middle of nowhere, right at the end of the posties route, there is no way that they would come out TWICE in one day (they often don't manage once!)... and still no parcels !!!
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

The MIL has our wedding and the kids photos up on the walls of the lounge. Not so much her two sons. The one I mentioned talks a good game, the other one only speaks when someone has died, so that’s three times in 20 years.

Yet, as the MIL doesn’t drive, it’s assumed her daughter or normally I will take her to hospital appointments, big shops etc.

Years ago, we paid for her and the husband to buy the council house. Even paid the council tax. Didn’t ask for the money back, but the father recognised this and wanted his daughter to be left the house. He died a few years back, the mother then made a new will out and the house is to be split equally between the three of them. Rolling Eyes

Ukraine 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

I have three sets of parents to co-ordinate. We just rotate them every year amongst the three kids living in the UK. My eldest sister lives on a Greek island and usually travels to Thailand at Christmas buying stock for her business so its never an option but thats not a problem.

To be honest our parents and in laws are pretty easy, chilled and are a good laugh. Its never an issue if we decide to have a year off to have Xmas with the kids. We just see them before or after Xmas either at ours or theirs.

Mind you this year will be a little different. My eledest is now a qualified Peadatric nurse so is working the 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th and we will have to deal with my wifes mother who has early stage demntia but which seems to be accelerating. Sad

Since we moved to our current house 21 years ago, we did Christmas for the whole family - sometimes as many as 14 before SIL got divorced. Usually meant a grim run-up as we prepped the house and, on the day, SWMBO was very stressed getting everything perfect. Pointing out that being a senior medical consultant with a happy(ish) husband (I'm miserable - nothing to do with her) and two well-adjusted teenage boys was testament to her ability as a wife and mother cut no ice - she had to do the perfect Christmas. We didn't really relax until the storm doors were shut and the bolt thrown around 6-ish.

Last year, it was just the four of us due to lockdown. Our now 22-year old and 17 year old said that it was the most enjoyable Christmas that they'd had for a very long time, so we're doing the same again this year. Relatives will be catered for on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, but we'll be on our own as a family on Christmas Day.

I'm happy just staying in the village for Christmas. SWMBO likes to visit family. Sadly, that means best part of a couple of hours drive each way which makes Christmas Day a total chore really.

We have done the day at home and it's a nice relaxed day. Get up, walk the dogs and sort the horses, home for breakfast, coffee and a few pressies between the two of us. Couple of hours in the pub at lunchtime is very convivial and jolly, then home to walk the dogs and do the horses again. Then a bit of dinner and a relaxed evening in.

Not sure what we're doing this year - SWMBO is going to ring her brother and find out what they're doing. I fear we'll be "making the trek" as I call it.

What is this Christmas of which you speak? Confused
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

It's a period of enforced jollity that stems from a belief in stone age fairy stories. Those fairy stories have been commercialised and now form a key part of many businesses' annual profit margin.

Having to cut the grass in November 🤷‍♂️
It’s a lovely day here ☀️ so not too bad to be out and about but I thought we were done for the winter.

^^^
same here, the big clawed squinty little Censored are everywhere although i have managed to reduce the destruction in the back/side garden by putting a couple of ultrasound spikes in and whenever one appears scraping the soil away and sprinkling some mole repellent granules on the area, apparently they taint the soil to irritate them but is safe to other animals.
The front garden is a different matter though

Oh, and back on topic, this hotel we’re staying at in Grenwich. They upgraded us to a very nice suite for the first night but not the other 8 nights. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

I think having 5 bookings for 9 nights has confused them. Whistle
