Since buying the D3 (first week of Oct) I have used the local Tesco garage (wife gets 5p litre off pump price vouchers! giving a saving of about £4 per fiill up) so cant say I have noticed anything given that its a new vehicle to me..so this week I will be filling from shell and will see what -if any- difference there may be and report back here.
LOL altho if there is a fuel blackade soon we can also report back on how Red diesel and White 28 second heating oil compares!!LOL

Popped a full tank in my MY07 last week but only got a good use today - wow. No flat spot on moving off and MUCH more responsive on the throttle! But the indicated MPG has gone DOWN from 30.5 to 26.5. However it is great. Now the question is, how many tanks of Vpower is it before I would have been cheaper with a remap!

Fuel
Your lucky you have a choice. In Oz we have diesel and we have diesel. It's also dearer than unleaded. FIlled D3 up today at $1.50 / litre for diesel and the wife's VRX at $1.30 / Litre for unleaded.
Go figure.

Have just done 450 miles on a tank of V-Power today - no difference in driveability, and slightly lower (worse) economy figures than the norm. Back to Saino's special brew for me.

Now done 280 miles on shell v
I can say I have noticed any real differnece in the car seems to pull away ok with no drag..but then I rarely encountered a delay of power in it before....fule consumption appears the same to but taking into account the higher pump price pver tesco diesel its not as good!..
still have some v fuel in the tank but will be re filling with tesco diesel with 5p off voucher next time!
Keep u posted later about MPG i achieved on shell v compared to tesco later

I thought I would give Shell V Max a try too. I seem to have gone up from 26mpg to 27.3mpg and I have convinced myself that the engine sounds smoother. However, that was two tankfuls on the congestion-free roads of the holiday season, and now back to the slow crawl through traffic. If the improved economy is true, this seems to be almost exactly in line with the higher price for V-Max (£1.13/litre ouch)

I'm on my second tank full now, and no real difference. I've just stopped looking at the fuel consumption and enjoying the car for it's 1,000,000 other good points!
Oh, and round our way, we can't get 5p off at Tesco's.... it ended just before Christmas!!!Stornoway Discovery 3 XS Auto

I have a 2007 56reg and it has hestation when pulling away.
To over come this hestation i tried a tank of shell v power and yes the performance was better. The pull a way hestation is back due to buying adsa fuel.
Still using sumpermarket fuel but every time i fill up i add 250ml of redex to the tank.
250ml is for 100liters but i fill up with 50liters and add the lot.
If you have used v power now try 250ml of redex to 50liter tank of fuel and believe me you will notice a big difference in excelleration and MPG up to 28.9 to 32.1

In the cold when the fuel burning stove thingy ignites, the V-Power smell is more pleasent than your usual derv.
Also the engine runs smoother and I enjoy the car more. Also the car seems more responsive so I dont have to put my foot as far down to get the response I need giving very good fuel consumption. (440km on half a tank instead of the usual 350km)
Just one thing, no other diesel types should be mixed with it otherwise even small amounts of other diesel removes any improvement.
Is BP Utimate as good ?There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

I think I have tried them all now
Order of preference
Total Excellium, V-Power and then Ultimate. But to be honest mileage seems to be as good on normal Esso or Shell diesel............end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
